Finished a reread of Christine. Now i'm switching between Carrion comfort and a book called Ancient Americas about the old high cultures like Inca, Maya, Aztek, Zatopec, Olmec, Toltec and Mixtecs. Of course we know most about the ones that were alive and kicking when the spaniards came, like aztec, Inca and Maya, but they kept records. Especially the mesoamerican cultures that wrote quite a lot. The south american cultures weren't quite so literary but there are things that can be known about the Inca forerunners like Chimu, Nasca, and Tiwanaku. Interesting.

(((xxxDaniexxx))) Hey, girl, you know I'm here for you, right? I did PM you before, and tho you did reply, I felt it was kind of a brush off, so I didn't persue it. Thought maybe I had alienated another friend with my big mouth? I'm not one to pry into others business and/or feelings. Please know that I am HERE for YOU! You've been a good friend!! I do miss seeing you on here and seeing your witty posts!! I hope things will begin to turn around for you and that the new year brings relief. I hope that there aren't any lingering effects from that accident you had a little while ago. Always know that I got your back, luv. Always!!
Krf,
The only thing I "hear" from your mouth is kindness and humor! I'm sorry I didn't get back with you after my last PM, truly. Things in my life don't always give me time to do what I really want to be doing, like talking to friends like you...posting my thoughts and feelings on this board...carefree things. So if I'm not around, just send me a carefree vibe or even two! You don't ever have to worry about alienating me--I'm just not that way. You guys are my refuge in time of trouble, and I count on you to be here for me. Your post made my day much better. I think the new year will bring only more heartache, but I am strong and will make it through this.

Danie, you know where to find me. I wish you all the best in your trials ahead. Know that I (and many others) are here with extra wide shoulders for you to lean on. Know you are loved!!

I should clarify my post. It's frustrating when life is so chaotic that we don't have time to do the things we are passionate about-like reading! The blessing comes in having books to look forward to reading in the future and that my favorite author keeps publishing novels for me to get excited about!

morgan . . .how's Boys Life going for you! I love, love that book. So many little stories within the book!
I'm only about five chapters in. Been alternating between Boy's Life, a Firestarter reread, and of course, Nightmares and Dreamscapes for Discussion Group! :) I'm enjoying it immensely, though. McCammon is truly an extraordinary writer!

I've got a few I'm currently working on. The audio of Joyland, Essence of the Dhammapada and Writers Between the Covers.

T
he last two were wins at LibraryThing.
I read "Joyland for the 2nd" time last summer and would give it 3 out of 4 stars, Just finished "Angela's Ashes" 3 stars (4 star movie, I will have to read again as I listened to it on audio and want to see what I may have missed),recently read "World War Z" (3 stars),"The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead" by Max Brooks (3 stars),Some of the Walking Dead "Rise of the Governor " and a few others in that line are ok I would rather just watch the Walking Dead,"Allison Hewitt Is Trapped: A Zombie Novel" 2.5 stars , "the Hunter" by Richard Stark. 3 stars, " Fire Break" 3.5 stars. Just this morning finished listening to "American Psycho" 3 stars. well written, I however would not suggest it to many people as I struggled with some of it being over the top and graphic when it could possibly have been restrained(maybe). I love the movie and found the humor worked better there... I will re-watch the movie I will not read the book again. I think I need to move on to something more uplifting or enlightening.

I am ending the "old year" with a good, quick read..."The Panther", by Nelson DeMille. The only other novel of his I've read was "Gold Coast", which I also liked, although I thought this one was a much better story. I really enjoy this guy's wit. If it wasn't so sharp, it would get old, but mostly it just makes the narrator (main character) real. Very entertaining and fun to read. A friend gave loaned me the latest Wilbur Smith just before Christmas, so that will be my first read in 2015. He claims it's good, so that will be a welcome switch from the last two "Hector" novels. Happy reading, and Happy New Year to all.

My response was a "Twilight Zone" reference, to clarify mine. ;)
