I have emailed Amazon and am waiting for a reply.
Ghost, all my books are saved in my Kindle Cloud, but I'm still afraid to lose them and/or other material if I go back to the default settings...
I just got so used to highlighting words to see the meaning or clarify...sometimes when reading a "regular" book, I would catch myself almost reaching up to touch an unfamiliar word to access my dictionary!
I've done that too! You have to get the dictionary back; it's one of the best things about a Kindle. I'm sure CS will be able to help. Good luck!

I couldn't stand Mockingjay. Don't know if it was me or the book. Liked the other two, though.
I dont think its you. Katniss doesn't really fit as a reluctant rebelleader. She seems uncomfortable the whole book through. Both Katniss and the author.
It was not a very good book. The first was pretty damned good, the second okay, but Mockingjay was boring and repetitive. A friend of mine calls books like that COBs: Contractual Obligation Books :).

Finished it up last night and would have to agree that it was the weakest of the three. Even trying to give the benefit of the doubt that this was a 17 year old character and that there really hadn't been that much time lapsed between the events of the first and the third books, it didn't seem like there had been much growth in Katniss and there were times when I wanted to just shake her. Far too many drugged up hospital scenes for me, too.

It had to be something in that last round of updates. If your books are all in cloud storage, then you shouldn't lose anything, except your bookmarks if you reset the Kindle. You'll most likely have to re-download any apps you've bought but you shouldn't have to purchase them again.

Did you find yourself rooting for Panem against Katniss by the end of Mockingjay? I honestly kind of wanted the Government to win. Too many "inside my head" monologues from Katniss in that book, it got irritating after a while. Just get to the conclusion of the damn revolution already....

;-D No, I didn't get quite that upset about it but agree about the monologues being irritating and by the last couple of hospital scenes, was thinking "oh for gawd's sake, again?!". I'd have thought after all she'd been through by that point there would have been less teenage angst which is how it was coming across for me and instead a person who was stronger not constantly questioning their choices. I am curious about whether they made any changes in the movie and the second part still to come out.

This is one of those rare instances where I think the movies have captured the plot of the book better than the actual book did. The movies seem to cut out some of the extraneous material, which was a good thing.

My daughter went to see the first half in Nov. for her birthday and said that it was MUCH better than the book. The screenwriter apparently did a good job :) Part 2 comes out next fall, I think? Wondering if anyone will care by then.

Finished Tabitha King's Pearl last night, now I'm about 60 pages into One On One. My last book of 2014 is turning out to be a good one!
That's my favorite of hers. I found a bunch of "Tabby" hardcovers at a thrift shop but haven't ready any of them yet. Too many books, not nearly enough time....

Great name. i remember that. There must be many COB,s around, right? I often think a series start out better, sometimes even very good (like hunger games) only to end in a disappointment.

You may not believe this, FRANKly, but your saying this brought tears to my eyes...been going through a ROUGH time, and just to know you missed my being around really meant a lot to me. xxxooo
(((xxxDaniexxx))) Hey, girl, you know I'm here for you, right? I did PM you before, and tho you did reply, I felt it was kind of a brush off, so I didn't persue it. Thought maybe I had alienated another friend with my big mouth? I'm not one to pry into others business and/or feelings. Please know that I am HERE for YOU! You've been a good friend!! I do miss seeing you on here and seeing your witty posts!! I hope things will begin to turn around for you and that the new year brings relief. I hope that there aren't any lingering effects from that accident you had a little while ago. Always know that I got your back, luv. Always!!
