This was what he looked like in Yentl (see spoiler above) - wow - I did not realize he was the same guy from The Princess Bride

The Spectacular Now (2013)- Well-done romantic drama and coming-of-age movie about two high school seniors who fall in love: Sutter (Miles Teller) a charmer and party-goer who has no plans for the future, falls in love with the "nice-girl" next door, Aimee (Shailene Woodley). I enjoyed this movie a lot. I really love coming-of-age movies overall, and I thought this was one of the better recent contemporary "teen" dramas that have just been released, like The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Teller and Woodley give good performances and have great on-screen chemistry. Jennifer Jason Leigh and Kyle Chandler also have good, but small, roles.

As Above So Below--decent idea ruined by dumb 'found footage' conceit. Some of the exposition and coincidences were silly, but I usually grant that to horror movies (almost none make total sense--I roll with it :D). Why oh why do modern horror directors think people screaming curse words and shaky cam is scary, though? It just irritates me.

My oldest daughter LOVED that movie :) I like Shailene Woodley, but not so much Miles Teller (he annoyed me in That Awkward Moment, too).

Aww, cool! :) I think this movie is so relatable--at least it was to me as I saw some things in Aimee that were parallel to me when I was in high school. The movie wasn't predictable or cliched; which is why I avoid the majority of "teen" flicks and even YA contemporary novels. I like Shailene, too! I loved her in The Fault In Our Stars, which at first was pretty hesitant about her as Hazel, but she blew me away in that role! Haha, I love Miles Teller! Give him another chance when you see Whiplash! ;)

I definitely intend to see that! J.K. Simmons is one of my favorites--I really hope he gets the Oscar.

Last Night-pretty good movie.

Nebraska-:love_heart: So, so good. Very touching. I loved it.

Horns-good stuff. Very original. I do wish that I had read the book first. I may still do so.

Freezing this weekend. Think I will stay snuggled up on the couch and wear out Netflix. Got some stuff to watch on the DVR too. :)
