I read this article on plastics in Mother Jones magazine and it's a bit disturbing. We are getting rid of BPAs in plastic but are we replacing them with worse chemicals?
The Scary New Evidence on BPA-Free Plastics | Mother Jones
It's really impossible to get plastic out of your life but over the last few years as some of this stuff has come to my attention, I do a few things to try and keep the exposure to nasty stuff as low as I can. I never ever put plastic in the microwave. Even when things say microwave safe, all it really means is that it won't melt, it has nothing to do with the leeching of chemicals. I have mostly glass storage bowls for food and when I do store food in plastic bowls, it is never anything hot.
