As I get older and grouchier, I tend to feel less for my fellow humans than I do animals. I walk by bell ringers outside of stores at Christmas time without giving them a second glance. I drive by people on the side of the road holding "Will work for food" signs barely even registering them. But if I see a dog or cat in my neighborhood that looks hungry or hurt, I'll bust my ass trying help it in any way I can. I don't remember animals ever coming near me when I was younger, but now it seems like animals will walk up to me after making eye contact. Maybe the animals can sense I'm not as big of an a$$hole as I know I once was. If I was a dog or cat, I wouldn't have walked up to younger me either. I think older me is a better person than younger me but it would have been hard to score much lower than younger me. I wouldn't give up my dog or cat for anything, they both can make my day better by just jumping up onto the couch with me.

I hear ya about ignoring the bell ringers and work for food signs. I've been burned by a few people claiming to need help and the CEOs of those charity organizations live large --too large for my taste.

Animals love without expectations . . .and only take what they need.

It was hard to open up the link and see the extent of cruelty that exists in the world. Anyone who does this to an animal is very sick and a danger to society. If they will hurt animals then they have no aversion to hurting humans either. It is like a stepping stone to more cruelty.
Unfortunately for me there was no spoiler .... when I opened the page there was that first pix ....
and I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU .... I actually said that to Teddy .... these people have no aversion to hurting small children and others that are weak .... I actually read an article about a teen that beat up an elderly person just for fun.

for some people there is no humane in the term humanity ....

Didn't read the article either. Something about dogs, when you can hear another news story about something bad happening to someone, it's something you can cope with usually. Just more news. But when you hear of a dog being hurt, it hurts you in a different way. So I really can't understand how people lose that natural empathy we should have with dogs, it should be pretty hard for a person to be able to do something like this.

But I think it's the same thing that makes people able to do mass shootings, somehow they've lost the ability to relate to and empathize with the suffering of others.

it hurts because it's a loving creature at the mercy of humans ....

...the headline was enough for me...hell I cry at the animal shelter fund-raising ads...here's my suggestion, in my normal, thoughtful GNTLGNT kinda way....get these assbags, rub moist dog food all over their soft and delicate places-then close them in a cage of pissed off Rottweilers that have been given Monster in their water bowls...problem solved...

This occurred in the Bronx I believe ... maybe the whole thing should be posted on facebook .... someone must know something about this ...

then we can do as you suggested to the guilty party ...

I'm not even going to open the link. I'm sorry, if you say it's horrible, I'm just going to take your word for it and keep praying for peace. After I had kids, I just couldn't stomach the news anymore. Baby rape seems to be a topic these days - WTH? Animal cruelty sickens me.

I think any horrific story concerning animals, children, the elderly or those that are just defenseless sickens me ....

Did not open the link- tears would flow and blood pressure rise. Too many negatives pass through my mind to reply. I pray with all my might justice is served to those who abuse animals. Critters are innocents in this world-
I soooo agree with you Spidey ... animals truly are the innocents in this world .... I guess because I grew up with critters and owned so many types of critters in my years ... I just cannot fathom how anyone could hurt one ....
