Great quote! Best one I've seen in a long time. Made me laugh. Thanks GNT!

And I agree with you, farm animals are not pets. I don't think they should be treated harshly, but they are not pets. I eat them, and likely always will. I also kill deer and eat them to. (I've even eaten a squirrel or two in my day) :)

In short, I don't think you or I are hypocrites.
Much love!
screeeeeeech! Back that hay wagon up here. Goats are pets. Yes. Yes they are. They are pets. Okay. My goats were pets. I miss those goats. I want a goat. Didn't somebody say we were to have a chicken in every pot, and a goat as a pet? I'm sure it was one of those presidents.;)

Pigs can be pets too. What I meant was farm animals that are on said farm for the purpose of being eaten. :) I've never eaten a goat, I don't think...

I assume everyone who is upset by this is a vegan, otherwise you're being very hypocritical getting all upset about this story. The animals that provide meat, eggs and dairy live a life of misery and torture.

I was waiting for this comment to come ....

Well ... at this point in life I am a vegan due to my own health issues ... but not everyone can be a vegan in this world, nor should they have to be ....
I agree that many animals that provide food for us live and die in horrible conditions ....

Now .... people that raise animals for food have the responsibility to keep their animals healthy and comfortable ... and those that do keep farm animals in lives of misery and torture are just as wrong as the one's that tortured that little dog.

and when you want to help change things because you don't like the conditions farm animals are kept in, you join groups like the ASPCA to help stop animals from living in these conditions ...

I lived in rural Virginia for 20 years, my property abutted a farm with horses, and cattle, I've been to a couple dairy farms and a sheep farm, and I can tell you I didn't see any animals in the shape that poor doggie was left to die in ....

You know what they say about ass-u-ming? No, I am not vegan. I guess maybe I am being hypocritical, too. You're right, maybe we (un-vegan folk) go about our daily lives not really giving much thought about where our food comes from. But, that doesn't mean we don't have a heart and can't show some compassion for one of God's creatures that has been abused. So, that said, if your post is your way of feeling superior to the rest of us un-vegan type, then more power to you. It does come across as alittle offensive in its own way, ya dig? Why do you feel you have to state something that is belittling to us when we're clearly showing some compassion and outrage about an animal being abused?

Thank you for this.

...I don't consider them pets, they are mostly raised as food and I love my eggs, beef, chicken , pork etc...but don't EVER call me a hypocrite simply because I grieve for domesticated animals that are by and large loved as pets...have a potato and chill out...

thank you GNTL you made my point very eloquently .....

Didn't read it sorry, don't trust myself to say much either.
I hear ya baby . . .for me it has become easier and easier to just say nothing when I see such things. I think of the news reports today as The Crime Reports . . . It just hurts more to voice my pain. What gets me the most now is that I'm less shocked by such abuse.
My heart breaks everytime i even think of what some people do.

Unfortunately for me there was no spoiler .... when I opened the page there was that first pix ....
and I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU .... I actually said that to Teddy .... these people have no aversion to hurting small children and others that are weak .... I actually read an article about a teen that beat up an elderly person just for fun.

for some people there is no humane in the term humanity ....
I don't know about anywhere else but I know here in St. Louis there is a game that is popular with younger people..... its called "the Knock-out game". The kids just walk up to to someone and hit them as hard as they can till they are knocked out. I know of 3 or 4 people who were attacked like this.

I'm not vegan, and I try to buy my meats and dairy products from local farmers. Meat and eggs are easy as there are many farmers around here who have free range, grass fed livestock. Milk on the other hand is difficult because of strict regulations selling milk ( goat milk must have different rules cause found a few farmers that sell it fresh) Cow milk though the nearest one i have found is over 2 hours away and it cost 8 for a half gallon.
