It's a different kind of horror story than the typical horror story.
I'll bet the chapter on Who we share our information with was scary

I was on my bank site and was told to review the updated agreement. I downloaded it and discovered that it's 43 pages long. It's a novella.
I don't know exactly why, but Duma Key is one of my favorites!!!! I loved it!!!I'm rereading Duma Key. I'm liking it as much on second read as I did on first. The first time I read it, I kinda flew through it to find out what happened, this time I'm savoring it.
...almost as exciting and morbid as the side effects lists of any medicine.....I've come up with the Reader's Digest abridged version of this:
We know everything about you and will sell the information to anyone who pays for it. If you do not like this policy, leave. But remember that if you leave, we still know everything about you and will sell the information to anyone who pays for it.
I do have an Insomnia, actually! Not collector level, though-no book jacket. A reading copy, maybe? If you're still interested, shoot me your addy and I'll ship it on outIf you're in the charitable mood, I'm looking for a copy of Insomnia. Maybe we can make a trade? I've got a pile of yard sale books in my living room. Lol.
Thank you, Kurt. Yes it was better than either. Looking at it from an editing perspective, it's perfect. I can't identify a single word or period I would change. That alone is a marvel, even if you don't like fantasy stories. I think it's my favorite novel of his. I can't think of one of his novels that I really dislike (though I don't love them all) but I tend to prefer his short stories or especially his nonfiction. My second favorite novel of his is Stardust.
Duma Key is one of my favorites, too.I don't know exactly why, but Duma Key is one of my favorites!!!! I loved it!!!
...I grok that!...Wireman is a King character classic....I don't know exactly why, but Duma Key is one of my favorites!!!! I loved it!!!

One of my favorites of Mr. King's! It has everything that a reader would want: characters, spookiness, mystery, atmosphere and its by the water!! Finished all three. I am going to follow up on Connelly's books; Mz. Sloan's book was kinda soap opery but the characters kept me going. I am now reading Clinton Cash a graphic novel, until the library calls again.I also picked up from the library City of Bones by Michael Connelly and Behind Closed Doors by Susan K Sloan.

Duma Key has everything a good novel should have... wonderful characters, a spooky mystery, thrills, chills, Plus (and I didn't know there was such a thing as southern gothic until this summer when I read Blackwater and The Elementals by Michael McDowell) it has a southern gothic atmosphere
You've got to give it a go....fascinating series!!! I am sorry Mr. McDowell is no longer with us; His final, unfinished novel Candles Burning was completed by novelist Tabitha King and published in 2006.I think I've got Blackwater in paperback somewhere in my closet but I never got around to reading it. Is it a good read?

Duma Key was the first book to make me literally gasp from surprise in many, many years, the first time I read it. It still tickles me to remember that!Duma Key has everything a good novel should have... wonderful characters, a spooky mystery, thrills, chills, Plus (and I didn't know there was such a thing as southern gothic until this summer when I read Blackwater and The Elementals by Michael McDowell) it has a southern gothic atmosphere
