10) AHS:Cult Ep 6 & 7 (2017) FTV – I am really digging this season, because the monsters are real! Messed up in so many ways!! 5/5

11) House of the Witch (2017) FTV – Another made for TV movie, but this one was better. It had some good FX and I was actually pleasantly surprised. 3/5

12) The Sixth Sense (1999) – I loved this movie. Saw it in the theater and it always brings back fond memories. M. Night at his best! 4.5/5

13) John Carpenter’s Vampires (1998) FTV – Full discloser. This was on in the background as I was cleaning house, so I may have missed some nuances that would have made it better, but on the other side, I’m glad I didn’t sit down to watch it. James Woods is a leader of a gang of vampire hunters. Gore and some humorous content that maybe wasn’t supposed to be. 2/5

14) The Conjuring (2013) FTV – I didn’t realize this was the Annabelle doll folks until I had started it. I probably wouldn’t have picked it if I had known, because that freaking doll creeps me out. Anyway, she’s only in this movie enough to make me squirm, so I made it through. Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse. Scary stuff follows! 4/5

I found The Conjuring to be one of the creepiest movies of the last decade. The first hour and change of the film is truly frightening. Goes off the rails a bit at the end, but getting there is good scary fun!

Pickled Pete (1984). Left floating in a vat of moonshine since his untimely death in '65, two-headed freakshow attraction Pete Dangus (Richard Moll) gets re-animated by a wayward bolt of lightning, and immediately commences killing any and all fairgoers he encounters. Tom Savini does his usual masterful job with the second head fx, while director Hans Delbrook keeps the tension running full blast. Look for a young, on-the-nod Courtney Love as corpse #6.

16. The Girl With All The Gifts (FTV)
A fungus turns most of humanity into bloodthirsty "hungries" (zombies) aside from a small group of children who are in some ways immune, but in other ways very much a new species of human. This was a nice fresh take on the zombie genre from the British, which manages to avoid most of the tired cliches that we've seen so many times before while being a decent action thriller as well. The girl in the title role plays it straight as a very well-mannered young British child despite being part monster. It's interesting to see her retain these characteristics even as an "infected" one, and to see the three very different relationships she has with each of the adults in this film: the motherly teacher, the cold calculating scientist who's trying to find a cure, and the sergeant who's just interested in survival. If you want something a little different in the zombie genre, give this one a try.

Weekend horror movie roundup:
#12 Shadow People - This is terrible. Don't watch it. The story, the acting, everything. 100% snoozefest. We made Comcast give us a refund.
#13 Carrie - Obviously an annual rewatch for me. Who doesn't love this classic?
#14 Freddy vs. Jason - I got the DVD free from the Buy Nothing Group along with Carrie so I figured, "why not?" Well, I can tell you why not to watch it now. The premise is even more absurd than those of the two movie franchises it blends together and it is really just two hours of Robert Englund convincing himself he's the king of horror (he's not). Oh, I forgot to mention all of the gratuitous boob shots. Even those don't make this movie enjoyable though.
#15 It Follows - This one is a bit complicated. I honestly can't decide whether I liked it or not but it left something of an impression on me. The premise of a curse being sexually transmitted and following the victim is interesting (if problematic) but not only does the "It" of the story move very slowly, the film itself does too and the actors mumble all of their lines making it tiresome to follow all the way through.

I'm not usually a fan of zombie stories but absolutely loved this book. The move was a pretty good adaptation but I heartily endorse reading the book to get the odds and ends that didn't make it into the film.

While looking at my list over the weekend, I realized I skipped posting one. So, my #7...
7. Nocturne (2016) ftv
Friends hold a seance at their graduation party and invite something otherworldly. It was mostly meh. There were some interesting plays on the timeline of the night, but that was really about it with this movie.

Now, to continue my list...
11. Cell (2016) ftv
Well, I was expecting this to be awful, based on what people here have said. I didn't think it was all that bad! Definitely not on par with the new IT, by any means, but we've definitely seen worse adaptations!

12. Shut In (2016) ftv
Living in isolation in rural Maine, a widowed child psychologist believes the ghost of a missing boy is in her house during an ice storm. This one stars Naomi Watts and the first hour is really good. Then it went downhill a bit for me. Overall it was pretty decent, though.

13) Dawn of the Dead (1978)-The last time I saw this one was at a midnight movie back in 1982! I found a DVD copy at the thrifty a while back and nabbed it (they're hard to come by--apparently some sort of snafu about who owns the rights? That's what my son said, anyway). It doesn't hold up as well as Night of the Living Dead, but it still has a bit of juice in it. I liked it better than the remake, anyway.

I'm a film behind (BH wanted to watch a not-horror movie tonight, so we watched Me Before You earlier tonight) so tomorrow I'll have to watch 2 creepers to catch up :)
14)Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)-an old favorite

I just checked out this DVD from the library today! Hope to watch it in the next few days. :smile2:
