I am behind already. Will do my best to keep up this year but just don't know if it will be possible.

1. I Spit on Your Grave

Yuckapooey. Girl goes to cabin in the woods to write and a gang of men do unspeakable things to her. I only finished watching because I wanted to see her get her revenge. One by one, they got what was coming to them. Will never watch this one again.

2. Bad Dreams (FTV)
Better-than-expected 80's slasher flick set in a nuthouse. The sole survivor of a hippie cult suicide pact awakens from a 13-year coma, haunted by visions of the cult's leader, who seems to be bumping off residents of the mental hospital where she now resides. This was probably marketed as a Nightmare on Elm Street meets Charles Manson, but it's more than that, and has a nice body count, great kooky mental patients, cool makeup effects, and lots of familiar character actors. Richard Lynch is excellent as the boogeyman. A twist ending undermines some of the premise's effectiveness, but it kept things from being too rote.

3.5 out of 5 stars.

3. Torture Garden-- thanks for the heads up on this one skimom2 . I absolutely love old British anthology movies. I thought I'dd seen them all. Not the best in genre, but entertaining. Will be watching the house that dripped blood for tomorrow--another one I haven't seen!

2. John Dies In The End. Very weird little movie.
1. The Legend of Hell House with Roddy McDowall. I don't think I need to say anything else.

1. BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER - I hadn't seen this in a good long while. Entertaining little flick, though it pales in comparison to the tv show.

2. BIG ASS SPIDER - Amusing throwback to the giant bug movies of the '50's about a giant spider that attacks L.A. I recommend it if you're in the mood for an amusing, well made monster movie.

3. DEAD BEFORE DAWN - Horror comedy about a bunch of teenagers who unleash a curse upon their town and are attacked by half demon, half zombie creatures, aka, zemons. Pretty decent.

4. SEE NO EVIL - Standard slasher flick about a large scary guy who rips teenagers apart in as many ways as he can think of. Not very good.

2. Carrie (2013). I really had very little to no expectations of this movie, but was pleasantly surprised. Julianne Moore was great and Chloe Grace Moretz played naive, bewildered and terrifying much better than I thought she would. The actress who played Sue Snell was fairly weak IMO.

10. Red Dragon. Perhaps requires no description here. It is a remake of Manhunter (1986; starring Joan Allen!). Imho Red Dragon is superior to the original, which was directed so badly as to be next to impossible to follow; though, the remake uses the original script as a kind of template.

As a matter of interest was it the 1978 original or the modern remake ?

3. Leprechaun (1993) Jennifer Aniston

Based on a true story that happened in Mobile, Alabama (just kidding). This is a comedy horror flick that is mildly amusing. The Leprechaun is funny, creepy and pretty cool but the story is nothing special. I think this was Jennifer Aniston’s first movie. Anything Jennifer is in is a least worth looking at. 5/10

I remember Aniston looking so young as to be unrecognizable.

I am on the opposite end of the spectrum with this one. I think the original is much better. I do like the remake as well. Harvey Keitel is excellent as Jack Crawford. In fact, I like Manhunter better than Silence of the Lambs. I'm sure I'm in the minority on that. I'm also one of those people that prefer Reservoir Dogs to Pulp Fiction so there you go!

Michael Mann is a love 'em or hate 'em kind of director. I like his visual style. Same reason why I like Argento. Both can suffer from style over substance and leave you scratching your head at times. Best example of that with Mann is The Keep. Great book. Visually stunning film. Hard as heck to follow!
