Wow! I missed yesterday, so got two installments! Lucky me!

Notebookgirl, very nicely done! Poor Lou! I could feel that lump on his head!

And Kurben! Amazing! You have such a great writing style, it's hard to believe English is not your first language! And for the record, I still have not guessed any writer correctly!

And Skimom! Don't downplay your editing/coordinating role! This year's story is one of the most cohesive that I remember. What a great job to everyone! I can't wait til tomorrow!!!!!

Chapters 5 and 6 are wonderful -- they gave me some fascinating information. I think I may have an idea where this is going, but I'm sure the rug will be pulled from beneath my feet and that I will be surprised in the end. The writing in both these chapters kept me in the grip of the mystery, and I want to know more. The two authors are very strong at writing; this type of pass-the-story-on-to-the-next-person method is probably not easy to do well, especially at this later stage of the tale.

Great dialogue Kurben, I really enjoyed the exchange between Sarah and Lou. It's in this chapter that I felt things really veered off course in an interesting way. I must say, I didn't like Sarah but I can't say why right now.

...Kurben old buddy, old pal, old shoe-you have a gift with dialogue...to me, that is the hardest part of writing is making it sound convincing, rather than like a buncha crickets having an argument...well, well done!...

I apologize that I have been quiet of late. That isn't a reflection on the fine installments! Real life, as in life away from the computer, has been hectic. I'm catching up and everything I've read so far has been great!

Out of curiosity, how did the process of writing this work? Was a story developed by everyone involved at the beginning, or did GNT simply begin it, leaving it to all other participants to act as separate catalytic agents for its ultimate evolution?

The writing group makes suggestions as to what might be included in the story.( Western town, supernatural character, lighter tone) The most popular ideas are what is thrown into the pot. A writing order is decided. The first writer, this year GNT starts off the story--his ideas, his thoughts. The next writer reads that part, decides what he/ she would like to throw into the pot- continue, add on something new, go further in depth. And the process continues until the story, soup is served to the SKMB.

You explained it fabulously, Spidey. People who cared to make suggestions did so, and we tossed them around and refined them until we had a sort of rough consensus of a few elements we would like to see included in the story. After a few SKMB board mandated guidelines, we were off! Each writer builds upon what was written by the ones before him/her.
