GNTLGNT That was a brilliant start.
Too short for my liking but better to leave the reader wanting just a bit more than to give him everything.
"Cookie's Chuckwagon" - I should have known. It doesn't get more obvious than that. Nice one. :haha:
"hitch-hiking insurance fixated geckos with tiny suitcases" - that's a vivid image in my head now. Quite funny. In my head the said geckos are having conversations. Right. I better stop here.
I had to google "Griswolds" - hey, you learn new things every day, right?

the_last_gunslinger Great next chapter! Introducing Anna Marie and Gramma Abish, two of my favorite characters - I love how the mystery creeps in. :dunno:
Ahead, enshrouded in shadows where the full moon struggles for eminence amidst ancient elms, I see the silhouette of the church’s rotted steeple, its rusted bell silent now, beckoning only the dead and the damned. (My favorite quote in this segment of the story.)

Shoesalesman Powerful first sentence. Not only that, but you left enough room for the next writer so he could do whatever he liked with the story. It could have gone either way. I was literally flying through the rest of the story so I could see who wins. :wha:

Its eyes are dark pools that absorb the full moon’s silvery fingers of light and give nothing back. I loved this.

I'll have to post every day between when I started and Halloween to get this put to bed, so YEP! Another installment later today (I have to go buy food now or the natives will stage a mutiny).
Happy hunting! Got to keep the family happy. I have no idea what to make today for supper - I'll have to sit down and plan this soon.

Thanks for posting the story segments skimom2 :):clap:
