I have my first one!
1) THEM: A 2006 French home invasion story that I TOTALLY shouldn't have watched before bed. Almost as scary as The Strangers (no movie has ever scared me that much). "Based on a true story", but you know how that goes. It was well shot, well acted, and a good movie for someone who doesn't have home invasion as a basic fear (unlike me). A good start for my month o'horror :)

Have you seen Cul-de-sac by Roman Polanski from 1966? also french and really good. With Donald Plöeasence and Francoise Dorleac. Another one to watch is Desperate Hours with Humphrey Bogart and Fredric March. Directed by William Wyler (1955). Not exactly horror but a homeinvasion story. Also there is Death Weekend aks The House By the Lake by William Fruet (1976) with Don Stroud and Brenda Vaccaro. Thanks for the tip.
Have seen 2. 1. Session 9 with David Caruso. Not very good. About a team of asbestworkers that go to work at an abandoned mentalasyulum. Even if the people are gone some spirits aren't.... and. 2. Christine by Carpenter. I blush to say i havent seen this one before. It was ok but the magic of the book isn't there. Much better then my first choice though. Had to see another one since my first choice was a flop.....

I liked Session 9.....I found the psychological aspects of it a little unnerving.

FYI - AMC is doing a mini SK marathon tonight, just in case you need help kick-starting your movies.

Firestarter, Pet Semetary, Thinner, Cujo, Silver Bullet and Riding the Bullet.

I will probably be able to watch 2 and tape another.
May skip Thinner though. Watched it last year and the makeup is just so bad that I don't know if I can do it again.

I was just going to post that AMC is showing SK movies today!

I am in, again. Missed the 31 mark last year for the first time, probably will not make it this year either, but I am going to give the dvr a workout trying! ;-D

Thank you for the suggestions! As I did last year, I'm going to try to have mainly first time views (though a few classics are non-negotiable), so you've set me on my way nicely :)

I'll trying the same tactic here. Saw my third Nightlight about a bunch of teenagers playing a game in the woods with flashlights. They were not alone.....Not very original but ok. Made this year. Is there any good horror from this or last year? I'm afraid i havent kept my ear to the ground so to speak.

TCM has horror flicks every Friday this month. Old ones, mostly, naturally. But don't sell em short--now and then they'll slip something sick in around two, three in the morning. I'll never make the challange, though. Can't hardly sit through a whole movie anymore.

Might go see The Final Girls, though. Thats a new one that actually looks cool.

It's been a fairly quiet year for horror this year, but here are a few good ones that I've seen:
The Green Inferno - The first Eli Roth movie since Hostel 2; 7 years ago.
Crimson Peak - A ghost story set in 19th century England
It Follows - A curse that's sexually transmitted.

You're quite welcome. And you're right about bad Horror movies (Or any bad movie for that matter). Except for most of the slashers that I watch. Some of them are so bad, they're good (In a cheesy, bad acting, not supposed to be funny but are sort of way).

My daughter liked It Follows. I haven't been to see a horror movie in the theater in ages. From the last couple of years, I've liked The Babadook and Byzantium (both on Netflix).

I watch a lot of movies.. especially horror, when not in a challenge LOL so this will be fun
I watch a lot of horror, too, so it's difficult finding ones I haven't already watched that aren't pure D stupid :p I found a lot of decent older movies last year, though, and there are ones on other peoples' lists from last year that I plan on checking out. Not like there's a shortage--lol
