Jonathan Rhys Meyers was really good in this. Sufficiently spooky, but didn't knock my socks off. I gave it a 3 out of 5 stars.

Anything with Juliann Moore in it is fine with me.

I have to pick one for tonight (if I can stay awake after I get LilMan to bed--lol). Has anyone seen 13 sins? Also looking at old horror movies on some of the smaller sites that are on Roku. Netflix and Hulu don't have a great selection of classic horror movies :(

I tried one called Pact with the Devil (a modern-day retelling of Dorian Gray), but it was so awful, despite having Christoph Waltz and Malcolm McDowell, that I had to quit it. Instead, I'm watching Carnival of Souls (1962). First time view, so we'll see what happens :)

1. Long Weekend (1978) Australia

A couple go on a weekend camping trip at an isolated beach and encounter a mysterious evil. This film is about our reckless attitude towards Mother Nature and Mother Nature striking back. This is a slow moving, moody film with only 2 characters (not counting a few very minor ones) and like almost every Aussie film that I’ve seen, the locations are beautiful. 7/10

2. The Thaw (2009) Val Kilmer

Another “don’t mess with mother nature” film. Kilmer plays a scientist studying the effects of warming in an isolated arctic region. He makes a find of a mammoth that was uncovered with the melting ice. This has more than a few similarities to “The Thing.” Not great but not bad either. 5/10
