1- Pet Semetary (1989) – First saw this one in the theater and try to catch it every year. Still scares the pants off me, and it’s a nice bonus to see Mr. King in his cameo.

2- Ghost Voyage (2008) – Oh boy! This was just bad. Acting was bad, special effects were corny. It has an interesting premise but just not what I was hoping for. Oh well. I’m at 2 on day 2 so that’s a good start for me!

Up late last night due to the Steelers game (now there's another horror story) but I got my movie in...

1. The Baby's Room (LA HABITACIÓN DEL NIÑO) (FTV)
In Spanish with subtitles. A young couple with a baby buys an old house to refurbish, but the husband soon becomes obsessed with the notion that there is an intruder in the house, which only he can detect through the baby monitor. This is a little better than the by-the-numbers plot would indicate, with some bit of originality scattered throughout (I particularly enjoyed the scenes between the main character and his boss at the office, and the attempts to use quantum science to explain parallel realities & hauntings). A few scares here and there but mostly it fails to achieve strong dread tension that you want to see in a horror thriller. Felt more like an extended episode of Tales From The Darkside than a horror feature, but overall not a bad way to start this month.

3 out of 5 stars.

I have my first one!
1) THEM: A 2006 French home invasion story that I TOTALLY shouldn't have watched before bed. Almost as scary as The Strangers (no movie has ever scared me that much). "Based on a true story", but you know how that goes. It was well shot, well acted, and a good movie for someone who doesn't have home invasion as a basic fear (unlike me). A good start for my month o'horror :)
I just remembered.... Is this "Ils" with Olivia Bonamy in the lead? Thats french for Them and it is really good. SCARY!!!!
