Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931). My favorite Hyde. Fredric March really loses himself as Hyde. Got him an Oscar for this. Miriam Hopkins looks genuinely terrified in Hyde's cruel clutches.

I'm gonna check out the Spencer Tracy/Ingrid Bergman version of this, which I've never seen. Should be good. With those actors in it, how could it not be?

Tell ya who woulda made a GREAT Hyde: Paul Muni!

1-10. All of the "Halloween" movies from the John Carpenter original thru the Rob Zombie remakes.

11. The Conjuring

12. The Conjuring 2

13. All Hallows Eve...gratuitous clown murder movie. Not great, but entertaining.

14. Lords of Salem....My 4th time watching this one, still clueless as to what it's actually about.

15. Trick or Treat. 1986 movie about satanic rock star who returns from the dead and shoots lightning bolts from his guitar. The cheese was pretty thick on this movie...

16. The Faculty. One of the better soundtracks I've ever heard in a movie, and a great Sci-Fi horror flick to boot.

17. Disturbing Behavior. Similar to The Faculty. Nick Stahl and William Sadler. I'm convinced William Sadler is one of the most underrated actors. He seems to be able to play any role very well.

18. The Black River Vampire. Not terrible, they were definitely trying to go the way of "The Blair Witch Project" but I like those kind of movies. A bit of a bizarre ending. Rosemary's Baby meets a Twilight Zone episode....

19. The Thing (1982). Wouldn't be a true horror movie marathon without this one.

20. Wrong Turn. Hadn't watched this one in a while. Hillbilly cannibals and extremely hot female leads, including Eliza Dushku. Not much not to like in this one.

21. The Hills Have Eyes (2006). Debated on letting my son watch this one with me last night but gave in. I remembered this one being a little heavy on the violence side but then my son reminded me I had let him watch the Rob Zombie versions of Halloween less than a week ago....hard to argue with that logic. Wasn't as horrific as I remembered it to be and still a good movie. Found myself giggling at some of the over the top violence....WTH is wrong with me....lol

22. House of 1000 Corpses.

23. I Spit On Your Grave (2010 version with Sarah Butler). Hadn't seen this one in a while. Helluva revenge movie.

24. The Cabin In The Woods. Seen this one several times but still just as weird.

25. DEF-CON 4. 1985 post nuclear war type movie with cannibal humanoids. Campy but watchable.

26. The Vatican Tapes. This one was just coming on cable when I woke up this morning which gave me an excuse to stay in bed. Not a bad movie, ending was solid.

27. Grave Encounters. I'm not sure how I missed this one but other than the classics I've watched so far, this makes #1 on my list of horror movies I've watched so far for the marathon. Paranormal "Ghost Hunters" show producers enter a huge abandoned mental asylum. Sounds like it's been done before but they make it work very well. Solid movie.

28. Grave Encounters 2. Whoever produced this movie obviously didn't consult the formula for the first Grave Encounters. This one was was boring from start to finish.

29. Hell comes To Frogtown. Post apocalyptic movie starring "Rowdy" Roddy Piper...enough said. Piper has to rescue a group of fertile women from a mutant leader who resembles a frog in order to try and repopulate the planet...he also has to perform said rescue with a bomb strapped to his junk. There's an Oscar plot somewhere in this one..;) Barely stayed up long enough to finish this one last night. Last peek at the clock showed 12:55am....

30. Extraterrestrial. Another sci/fi horror flick. Same director who did Grave Encounters directed this movie. Not much new here as far as the alien abduction genre but the aliens are quite a bit more violent which was kind of cool. Some good splatter kills, worth watching.

31. The Gallows. I wish I could buy back 90 minutes of my life. Pretty much bored the whole time but my son seemed interested in it so I sat thru it. Definitely meant for a younger crowd not so much for an old grouchy horror movie veteran....

Thanks for this feedback. It keeps popping up in my filter and I couldn't decide if it would be worth it. I've already sat thru 2 duds this month, so I think I'll look for something better. ;-D

Sat home with sick hubby yesterday, so had some time to catch up! Yeay!

11) AHS6 – Ep 4 and 5: My Roanoke Nightmare (2016) FTV – I have really enjoyed this season so far. Love the characters and how versatile the actors are. 4.5 of 5 stars
12) The Black Dahlia (2008) – FTV – I would not call this horror, more like thriller, however it popped up in my horror filter in xfinity and since I’d never watched it, I decided why not. It was an ok movie, but not quite what I was in the mood for at the time. Acting was jerky but that may have been intentional as it was a very detective noir type film. 3 of 5 stars
13) Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (1994) – FTV – Much closer to the book than most adaptations. Each character has their own interior struggle to work through. And poor Helena Bonham Carter! She’s amazing! 4 of 5 stars
14) Silent Hill: Revelation (2012) – FTV – Watched the first one earlier this month and this sequel was on while I was working from home. Same as the first one. Weird, alter-realities and crazy-looking monsters. Not great. 1.5 of 5 stars
If you remember from the earlier review, Sean Bean was the dad. He didn't die. He's back in this one, and although it's close, he doesn't die again. BUT at the end, he is heading back to town to save his missing wife, so there's always a change if they make a 3rd movie, however, I'm not sure it's worth sitting through another movie to find out if he survives.
15) Maleficient (2014) – Love this movie. It’s the Sleeping Beauty story but told from the view point of the fairies and we realize quickly that the version we know is swayed by the humans to make them look better. And true love’s kiss just reduces me to tears. Every. Single. Time. Angelina Jolie is very good making this character frightening, yet vunerable. 5 of 5 stars

17. A Good Marriage (2014)
I thought this was a decent adaptation. Need to do a reread to really compare differences, but I liked this one. The casting was great. Only differences that really came to mind was the wife in the movie didn't have that mirror thing going on and the cop did not really make an appearance until late in the movie. I remember him showing up sooner, am I remembering that wrong? Anyway, going to try to reread it soon, while the movie is fresh in my mind.

18. Hush (2016) I liked this one a lot. Deaf woman writer living on her own in an isolated area. Creepy killer guy wants to make her his next victim. Really suspenseful and moves right along, even with just 2 characters for most of the movie.

Oh! And the woman writer had Under the Dome, Revival and Mr. Mercedes sitting on a desk. Love when I catch SK stuff in movies!!

19. The Babadook (2014) I have been looking forward to seeing this one for a ling time. But was a little disappointed in it. It was better than ok, but not as great as I guess I had built it up in my mind to be. The little twist at the end was pretty cool, though.

I'd definitely skip that one....I'll sit thru most bad horror movies just because I enjoy the genre so much, but that one was hard to digest..lol The SK marathon this year has been fun. My son is 12 and he really likes scary movies, so all this month most nights after homework is finished, we usually look thru Hulu, Netflix, or all of my old DVDs and pick out a scary movie to watch. I keep thinking he'll get bored doing it but he's been texting me almost every day after school asking about that night's horror movie. I'll stick with the routine as long as he wants to...

19. It Came From Outer Space (FTV) in 3D
Fantasy writer witnesses a UFO crash in Arizona, the evidence of which is quickly covered by a landslide. Now no one will believe his account of what happened--until it's too late. Written by Ray Bradbury, ICFOS is a neat early sci-fi alien monster film that hits all the notes we now regard as familiar: disbelieving authorities, aliens that take over human bodies, and the postwar atomic west setting. Bradbury's flowing prose makes several of the characters sound like they are saying wondrous little homilies, but the story here is a bit weak and could have used a little more plot. Barbara Rush makes a charming damsel partner for the lead, when she's not screaming at Joshua trees and little boys dressed as robots. The 3D is pretty good beyond the first few minutes which are a bit dizzying, but the prevalence of "day for night" shooting in this makes this a much darker picture than it should be for many of the shots. But hey, only $7.99 at Best Buy for a 3D classic sci-fi-horror film, I can't complain too much.

3 out of 5 stars.

Dolan's Cadillac - good one (saw it before but it was just as good on a second watch)

The Haunting (based on Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House) - also good (FTV) 1963

The Innocents with Deborah Kerr - (FTV)

28. Theatre of Blood -- Love this old Vincent Price movie. Makes me want to watch the Phibes movies.

I rented the Blu Ray through Netflix. I'm probably one of the few people left who use their mailing service!

Me too. I prefer the discs. I'm old school that way. ;-D The video and sound quality is better and I often like to watch with the subtitles and the subtitles on streaming can be a little wacky sometimes.

They Look Like People--Came up as 'horror' on my Netflix recs, but it was really sort of sad. Nothing paranormal at all, just a schizophrenic man who is losing to his illness. No actual violence, but many suggestions that it has happened off screen. A notch above the other 'hipster horror' movies I've seen, largely because it didn't have extended scenes of people yelling 'f**k' at each other. Still sketchy production values. Meh. 2/5

This is my list so far:
1) Dr. Jeckyll and Mr Hyde (1922) FTV
2) Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde (1955) FTV
3) Don't Blink FTV
4) We Are Still Here FTV
5) Dead of Night
6) Attack The Block FTV
7) The Thing
8) 10 Cloverfield Lane FTV
9) What We Become FTV
10) Exorcist TV series (4 episodes so far) FTV
11) Asylum
12) They Look Like People FTV

So far this year, my favorite FTV has been either Attack the Block or What We Become. 10 Cloverfield Lane was pretty clever, too. I have to agree with Dana Jean , though: they don't make horror movies like they used to.

16) Lake Placid (1999) – This is a guilty pleasure movie for me. I will watch it anytime it’s on, even if I catch the last 15 minutes of it. Bridget Fonda is the perfect neurotic, Bill Pullman his normal squinty self and don’t get me started on Brendan Gleeson (love him!). Betty White swearing! It’s the first time I saw her in a “non-Rose” role. I know it’s cheesy, but man, do I dig this film. 4 of 5 stars

1) Se7en (1995) – 4 of 5 stars
2) Silent Hill (2006) FTV – 1.5 of 5 stars
3) Cursed (2005) FTV – 2.5 of 5 stars
4) The Remaining (2014) FTV – 3.5 of 5 stars
