35. House of Wax

"An associate burns down a wax museum with the owner inside, but he survives only to become vengeful and murderous."

Great old movie starring the man, Vincent Price. This was a 3-D movie when it was first released, and you get the hint it was when the barker out front with the paddle is shooting his balls at the camera. (TWSS)

No, the people I knew where Missouri/panhandle of Florida. Not sure I know anyone from Nebraska and what their accents are. But, the setting and the voices weren't a hang up for me. I just went for the ride.
Now that makes sense! Missouri, I mean. Northern Southern (my MIL is from Missouri, and she insists it isn't the South, so we call her Northern Southern--lol) :) That's what made me think of Arkansas, I think--that sort of mid north-southern accent.

51.) Frankenstein (1994)

Hard to believe I haven't seen this before. Long movie. Frankenstein is supposed to be hideous (but after watching the deformed man in Hannibal, this guy wasn't ugly at all!). It's always a pleasure to see Helena Bonham Carter. I was supposed to be terrified of Frankenstein (Robert De Niro) but all I wanted to do was give him a hug.

Neesy's List

1. Son of Dracula
2. Alias Grace (well, what happened to her was horrible)
3. Arachnophobia
4. House of the Witch - teenagers trapped in abandoned house on Hallowe'en are terrorized by a witch
5. Carrie (at the motel last night) - the one from a couple of years ago
6. My Soul to Take (on SyFy right now).
7. It (second viewing at the theatre tonight).
8. Nightmare on Elm Street 3 at the hotel in Deer River MN.
9. Messages Deleted (2010) was on TV today - more of a mystery than a horror but there were some gory parts.
10. Pay the Ghost (2015) with Nicolas Cage - a professor frantically searches for his son who was abducted during a Hallowe'en parade.
11. Child's Play - sort of watched it but mainly it was on because son and GF were watching it - seemed kind of silly to me.
12. Silver Bullet - on AMC
13. Christine (yup - that one with the classic car)
14. Thinner (Die well, white man from town).
15. Blood Honey - Tortured by the memory of a childhood trauma, a woman returns after a decade to her family's fly-in hunting lodge to assist her siblings with their dying father, only to find herself stuck in a life threatening nightmare.
16. Firestarter - on AMC with George G. Scott, Martin Sheen, Art Carney & Louise Fletcher etc. - forgot how many well known actors were in this one.
17. I watched an episode of Hoarders on TV - this lady had 50 cats!
18. The Curse of Frankenstein - from 1957 with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.
19. Texas Chainsaw Massacre - was on TV today - the one from 1974 which I originally saw at the drive in (probably around 1980) - it was a double feature with the original Carrie movie.
20. AMC is still showing Fearfest so today I watched Christine - John Carpenter director, great music and of course the car.
21. The Green Mile - re-recording it, as the last time I had it in the DVR was 11/25/16 - it's on right now on Movie Channel.
22. The original Halloween directed by John Carpenter, from 1978, with Jamie Lee Curtis.
23. An American Werewolf in London (1981).
24. Teeth (as recommended by Baby Blue ) :icon_eek: 2007 Black Comedy/Horror movie.

23) Silent Hill

24) What We Become - Danish zombie film, kind of similar to FTWD in that you see the outbreak occur and there's a focus on family dynamics, etc. Nothing new, but pretty well done. 3/5
25) 1922 - Almost didn't recognise Thomas Jane, despite having recently seen him in The Expanse. Never really thought of him as a nuanced character actor before, but he definitely was in this. The adaptation was very well done overall, too. 4.5/5

16. Fear the Walking Dead
This was the 2 hour season finale, and I'm just not catching up so I'm counting it in my total. ;)

17. 1922
I loved it. This was my favorite story in FDNS, so was anxious to see it. Regarding earlier discussion, I'm from Nebraska, so you guys DO know someone from there! But you have never heard me talk. I was not distracted by Jane's accent, even though that is not how I talk. :p But, the wife and kid did not really talk that way, I just think it was Jane's take on being a farmer...it can be a lonely existance and some farmers aren't all that used to carrying on a conversation. My take on it was he was just a quiet man and even when he had to speak, he just did it with a clenched jaw...that also represented his pride, to me. Maybe I'm putting too much into it, but it was not distracting to me.

morgan My grandparents also spoke German when they didn't want us to know what they were talking about!! I miss them.

The movie was great, I was not disappointed. I remember saying that the story and descriptions of the corn fields and farmhouses made me homesick and that I thought some of the horror of the story was lost on me because I had such a strong feeling of HOME when I read it...the movie brought those feelings out, too.

18. Gerald's Game
I loved this one too! This has been a banner year for SK adaptations.

yep, I get what you're saying. I just honestly don't think I've ever met someone from Nebraska, so the sound was easier for me to accept.

24. Rings (FTV)
Reboot of the early 2000's "The Ring" franchise involves college students who watch a video that will kill you within 7 days unless you can make a copy and get someone else to watch it, hence passing along the curse. This was pretty much a bad boring movie that you should avoid. Mostly the movie is an unscary snooze fest with useless paper thin characters and situations that go nowhere, and we never once care about the fate of any of these people, nor are we given a reason to. Several times during this movie I just wished it was over and almost gave up on it, which is pretty rare for me. The only reason I don't give it a 1 (or zero) star rating is that things pick up a little in the last 20 minutes or so, when the legend itself comes more into focus and some of the creepiness that made us like the original movie is re-kindled--not much, but some. But even then it's problematic: what was with those freakin' cicadas, anyway? The final image of a woman gagging is an appropriate audience response to this movie. This is a pretty pale piece of work that you can safely skip.

1.5 out of 5 stars.

52.) 11.22.63 (2016) (episodes The Rabbit Hole & The Kill Floor)

The second episode was terrifying!
Why can't they ever leave those animals alone??! :(

Forgot that Josh Duhamel is in this series. I've never seen him in a role like this and thought he was fantastic. He is this state's golden boy and has done most of the tourism promotions in the past few years. (And if that hottie can't get people to visit ND, trust me, nobody can! ;) )

Hey - I recently went through Grand Forks!

Honestly - we got lost on the way back home and they told us in Bemidji that Hwy 2 goes right through Grand Forks so we took that way home as it was faster

He was upset that he could not be the 'navigator' anymore as our TripTik from CAA wanted us to go a different way

It was great once we hit I-29 - I think we were going 120 km an hour (I think that's around 75 mph):onthego:

No horror movie for me today - I got caught up yesterday.

Yeah, I heard it was pretty awful. I've been tempted to watch it because I love Vincent D'Onofrio and Mr. Blue is a fan of the Ring franchise but all accounts are that it is truly terrible and it would cost of $15.99 to get it on Demand so we've steered clear...so far...

Vincent D added a little to it, but not enough. He wore sunglasses (he played a blind man) and I sort of suspect he was hiding his face in embarrassment for being in such a crud movie.
