#12) House of 1,000 Corpses: Some will argue that The Devil's Rejects is Rob Zombie's best effort. Some will say he's a hack who ruined the Halloween franchise. Regardless, I think this one is a pretty effective horror movie. Zombie pays homage to Texas Chainsaw Massacre and other 70s era exploitation films and his fandom is obvious. The cast is good, and I just love Sherri Moon (Zombie) in this film. 7/10

Don't know why but i just don't feel like a movie today....... It always happens on at least a few days in the movie marathon. I'm right now considering if that is a health sign or the opposite? The answer to that question can be rather scary..... Maybe i ought to count the thought as a one, or the way my team played for 2,5 hours saturday was a real horror i havent counted but maybe should. A horrormovie for any fan!!

17) The Hollow (2015) FTV – Not to be confused with The Hallow (which Kurben and skimom2 recommended) and not to be confused with The Hollow (2016) which is more a FBI drama/mystery, this made for TV crap was on SyFy Saturday morning. I didn’t feel like doing much, so I wasted time with this. Something happens when Sarah, Marley and Emma visit their aunt Cora. A strange creature is killing people one by one. The only way to survive from the creature: to hide until dawn. From this!

Neesy's List

1. Son of Dracula
2. Alias Grace (well, what happened to her was horrible)
3. Arachnophobia
4. House of the Witch - teenagers trapped in abandoned house on Hallowe'en are terrorized by a witch
5. Carrie (at the motel last night) - the one from a couple of years ago
6. My Soul to Take (on SyFy right now).
7. It (second viewing at the theatre tonight).
8. Nightmare on Elm Street 3 at the hotel in Deer River MN.
9. Messages Deleted (2010) was on TV today - more of a mystery than a horror but there were some gory parts.
10. Pay the Ghost (2015) with Nicolas Cage - a professor frantically searches for his son who was abducted during a Hallowe'en parade.
11. Child's Play - sort of watched it but mainly it was on because son and GF were watching it - seemed kind of silly to me.
12. Silver Bullet - on AMC
13. Christine (yup - that one with the classic car)
14. Thinner (Die well, white man from town).
15. Blood Honey - Tortured by the memory of a childhood trauma, a woman returns after a decade to her family's fly-in hunting lodge to assist her siblings with their dying father, only to find herself stuck in a life threatening nightmare.
16. Firestarter - on AMC with George G. Scott, Martin Sheen, Art Carney & Louise Fletcher etc. - forgot how many well known actors were in this one.
17. I watched an episode of Hoarders on TV - this lady had 50 cats!
18. The Curse of Frankenstein - from 1957 with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.
19. Texas Chainsaw Massacre - was on TV today - the one from 1974 which I originally saw at the drive in (probably around 1980) - it was a double feature with the original Carrie movie.
20. AMC is still showing Fearfest so today I watched Christine - John Carpenter director, great music and of course the car.
21. The Green Mile - re-recording it, as the last time I had it in the DVR was 11/25/16 - it's on right now on Movie Channel.
22. The original Halloween directed by John Carpenter, from 1978, with Jamie Lee Curtis.
23. An American Werewolf in London (1981).

23. Beetlejuice
Recently deceased couple get help from the titular "bio-exorcist" in ridding their home's pesky new owners. Beetlejuice was unleashed on an unsuspecting world before Tim Burton was making "Tim Burton" films, and people didn't know what to make of this colorful, spooky, funny and downright weird little movie when it was released way back in 1988. But thank goodness it all worked out, as this remains one of my favorite Tim Burton films for just those very reasons. Michael Keaton doesn't even show up until fairly deep into the film, but it hardly matters, we're too entranced with the sights and sounds coming from the screen. I love the hokey pre-CGI stop motion effects and the visible wires when people float. Remember sandworms on Saturn? Wynona Ryder's kooky hats? Geena Davis' shaggy hair, buggy eyes and no plastic surgery yet? And when Alec Baldwin was a harmlessly handsome yuppie? I watched this one with my daughter who was seeing it for the very first time, and she loved it too. Hmm, wonder if I can dig up a Handbook for the Recently Deceased on eBay...?

4 out of 5 stars.

Caught a few minutes of The Howling on a local station yesterday. Great werewolf film. I like the FX in this one better than An American Werewolf in London.
Considering AAWIL was from 1981, I'm not surprised - can't say I've ever seen The Howling - is it worth a watch?

Ooops - holy crap - they are both from the same year! Sorry - I did not realize :a24::a11:

I thought it might be a regional thing. This was set in Nebraska, right? The farmers around here (at least the old timers) speak with a heavy German accent. My grandparents were Germans from Russia and completely bilingual. They would argue in front of us in German so we wouldn't know what they were saying (I miss them so much). My mom grew up understanding German, but only speaking words and phrases. I wish I would've learned more from my grandparents before they were gone.

So, to make a long story shorter, I sincerely didn't mean any disrespect whatsoever. Just because I couldn't place the accent doesn't mean he didn't do an amazing job! :smile2:
Oh no, I wasn't insulted at all. I just wanted to say that although you and Skimom weren't getting his accent, I really have known people that sound just like that, so I wasn't taken out of the movie at all by his voice.

In Nebraska? It sounded more like Arkansas to me, but that's neither here not there :) Thomas Jane is a very good, underrated actor. I think people forget about him because he disappears so completely into his roles. It was a good show.
No, the people I knew where Missouri/panhandle of Florida. Not sure I know anyone from Nebraska and what their accents are. But, the setting and the voices weren't a hang up for me. I just went for the ride.

Definitely worth a watch! My favorite werewolf movie. It’s SwiftDog approved!

Joe Dante directed. Dee Wallace Stone is the main star.

Good movie. The Devil’s Rejects is a more complete film but this one is a nice homage to the Grindhouse films of the 70’s.

I’m actually OK with Rob’s reimagining of the first Halloween film. Haven’t seen the second one.

Weekend horror movie round-up:
#17 The Society - The first half of the movie is 1980s soft core porn, the second half is totally indescribable. There's really nothing else to say about it.
#18 Pet Sematary - It had been a while since I watched this. It's just as bad as I remember (in the best possible way) and I realized that Tasha Yar is in it. I totally didn't remember that!
#19 The Shining - I watch this a couple of times a year. It's a terrible adaptation but still a beautiful film.
#20 The Veil - A cult survivor revisits the scene of her family's mass suicide and horror ensues. I really enjoyed this one though I didn't find the twist terribly surprising.
#21 Shark Lake - I mean, it's about sharks in Lake Tahoe so I really had to watch it. It was just as terrible as you'd expect.
#22 We Are Still Here - I thought I had seen this one so I kept skipping over it on Nextflix. I finally decided to put it on anyway and I'm glad I did. There were plenty of storyline and performance issues but it was an interesting take on the haunted house story.
#23 The Forgotten - Slow and boring story about a haunted housing project
#24 Teeth - A girl discovers that she has a special gift. In her vagina. It was wonderful. I really loved this one.
I can't believe I'm finally caught up!
