11. The Hand

"Jon Lansdale is a comic book artist who loses his right hand in a car accident. The hand was not found at the scene of the accident, but it soon returns by itself to follow Jon around, and murder those who anger him."

Okay, I love The Hand. Directed by Oliver Stone, this is another one people love to hate, but I think it's a pretty good flick because of Michael Caine. Watch this film. Watch his performance. He gives it 150%! He's such a great actor.

I think I read somewhere that he is embarrassed by The Hand, but at the time he agreed to do it, he needed a new garage built onto his house, and he took the job because he needed the money to do that.

And there are a lot of familiar faces for many of us, character actors as the names themselves might not remind you of who they are.

Andrea Marcovicci (a huge presence in 1980s TV shows) , Bruce McGill (another face from TV shows like NCIS, Blue Bloods), Viveca Lindfors (We know her from Creepshow), Rosemary Murphy (another TV and movie character actor), Charles Fleischer (he does a lot of animated voices, but you will recognize his face, at least his younger face. For horror fans, he was in TAles from the Crypt--Demon Knight, he was in one of the Tales from the Crypt TV series episodes and Dick Tracy and many sitcoms back in the day).

When I was kid, my mother took me to a double-feature of The Hand along with Friday the 13th Part 2 (mom loved horror movies and used to take me to some really inappropriate ones. God bless her; I do the same with my kids). I didn't really understand it then and I haven't seen it since. I do, however, remember vividly the scene
in the car where Michael Caine actually loses his hand. It disturbed the hell of me back then.

Michael Caine is awesome, and even better are the Michael Caine impersonations from the film The Trip. Just kills me...

That scene is really so...realistic! I can understand why it was disturbing for you. It should be for everyone! I own this movie, so I periodically break it out to watch -- seriously, Michael Caine sells this thing. He is so good.

You are the first person that I know of that actually owns The Hand. That's impressive!
I love Michael Caine and I've watched a lot of documentaries and youtube interviews with him over the years -- he is just a brilliant actor. I don't care what role he is playing, I totally believe he is that guy!

4. I Didn't Come Here To Die (FTV)
Six young volunteers working on a humanitarian project deep in the woods begin to meet grisly fates while the survivors are left wondering what the heck is going on. This one was unique in that there really is no monster or killer, the only thing to fear is fear itself--and making some really bad decisions. Despite being a newer film, this one is made to look like a grainy early 80's VHS splatterfest, and it succeeds pretty well at capturing the spirit and humor of one. Although many younger viewers will probably be turned off with this lo-fi approach, I kinda liked this film; it didn't wink too much at the audience and the low budget look worked in its favor. If you don't let the lack of logic get in the way, you'll have some fun trying to figure out who gets it next and how. And although the ending was a bit too much to swallow, it was kinda cool how everything wrapped up neatly...or should I say, messily.

3.5 out of 5 stars.

Dressed to Kill with Michael Caine is another great performance. Some of the side performances are horrible, but he is always a skill to watch.

That's a terrific film too. I was just having a discussion about Brian DePalma. He's made some really good movies and some really awful ones. But he's never boring. Dressed to Kill definitely is one of the former. One of my favorite Michael Caine roles is the original Sleuth with Laurence Olivier (I hated the remake). I've got to track that one down as it's been years since I've seen it.

I'm not sure if you would call these movies Horror Movies...however...I like to watch them during this time of year with a nice bottle of wine. The Death Wish series I believe is considered action, but with so much over the top killing and gore...I say its more slasher horror.

It comes with all the early and late 80's accessories.....Nudity for no reason, excessive violence and gore, horrible stereotypes and horrible dialog! Watch it drunk with some friends! ;-D

You can watch whatever you want and label it whatever you want. We all see these movies through different experiences, I encouraged Flakenoir (who doesn't like scary movies) to watch comedy romances because I personally find them horrifying!

I'd classify them as thrillers, if that's important. But the lines get blurred there pretty often. Silence of the Lambs for instance, thriller or horror film? I think you could make an argument either way. Same goes for Jaws.

I love The Innocents. One of my most favorites of all time. And yes, those kids are fantastically creepy.

8. The Lords of Salem (2012) A Rob Zombie movie. And a disappointment. Had nothing real now to offer, And not convincing permances by the leads (Zombies daughter i think). Good supporting cast though in Maria Conchita Alonso, Dee Wallace and Patricia Quinn. But all in all rather boring. Definitely under average and if you can find something better then skip this one. 2/5

8.) American Horror Story: Roanoke (episodes 1 & 2 - approx. 40-45 min. each)

I gave up on Freak Show about halfway through the season and only watched one episode of Hotel. I'm liking this so far. It's a bit reminiscent of seasons one and three. Was very happy to see Cuba Gooding Jr. starring in this season. (As well as the usual cast of characters, minus Jessica Lange. :( )

I miss Jessica Lange...at first I thought she would be the link between all the season...given the ties in between Freak Show and Asylum. Best Seasons....in my opinion...Season 1: Murder House; Season 2: Asylum, Not sure what season...but the one with the witches.....and I think this season might be one of the better ones!

HOWEVER....if we are talking about a Horror show series...my favorite was Millennium! Use to come on after the X-Files (before it got super crappy)
