...I have subbed at ISS (In School Suspension) and the more heavy duty Alternative School (s) and I'm wondering if maybe one of the teens found out where I live and giving me a hard time. What I don't understand:Why would Rhodes allow anyone in the yard w/o barking ? How would he allow someone to pick him up and put him over the fence?...
I think that's a clear possibility. I assume all of the teachers' addresses are confidential, so if someone gave someone your address the fact would be something you'd want to investigate. I guess you could consider talking to school authorities.

That worked for 2/3 days until I went out early one morning and found that screwy stake thing unscrewed from the ground and the cord to his collar ...empty.

Saturday morning I went out and I found the triangle top of that stake cut. Yes, that metal stake had been cut. The cord was lying nearby. No Rhodes. I called the non-emergency police line and asked for a police officer to come out and make out a report.

I'm confused... Is someone unscrewing/cutting the stake and also removing Rhodes' collar? I can't figure out why they would mess with the stake if they cut the lead or removed Rhodes' collar. This is indeed a mystery. I hope you're able to borrow a video cam to solve it.

What kind of fence do you have? If its a wooden fence, are the horizontal boards on your side of the fence?

Hi!

May all be well or on the mend.

Thank you all for your posts.

A very kind member PM'd me to check on the status of Rhodes. (And included love and concern. Yay!)

Rhodes is at home and very happy to be able to run and play during the day. When it gets dark I put him on a metal cord attached to the front porch and, so far, no one has cut the metal cord, or picked him up and over the fence. (I let him off the metal cord during the day. We play and run. Catch the ball, play keep the ball away from Momma and let her run after me. Ha!)

Yesterday, Monday, when I came home from work a couple of neighbors informed me a police officer in a big azz SUV police vehicle had stopped in front of the house, walked around the front of the fence (basically, making a police presence known ) and proceeded to drive down the road and the the street behind us!

Bless his heart.

Oh! One more thing. We now have a female puppy-maybe four/five months old who made her way into our yard. She looks like a German-shepherd mix. No tags and rather neglected. We bathed her and welcomed her. Rhodes loves her as do we. (No money to get her vaccinated and licensed yet but...)

We have not yet named her but as she is young and very frightened (Frick. How the heck do you spell skitched?) we call out "Baby? Baby? Come here." And she comes. Maybe that's her name! BABY!

Peace.

(I will say it again, Thank you, Mr. Police officer! )

Glad things are getting better, Siggie. Sounds like Rhodes has a new friend and "Baby" is such a cute name. Thankful the police officer is watching out for you too. Please keep us posted. Only positive vibes.

Welcome good news! Maybe whomever was bugging you has gotten over it or decided it unwise. Keep us posted, and 'grats on the new baby. (I've submitted an adoption form for an adult Beagle-mix named Dolly. A lady contacted me so if all goes well there'll soon be a new addition to the bluntheads.)

blunthead -- awesome news. A forever home for Dolly. Beagles are special.
