On non-dating forums, is it okay to flirt or hit on other members? What is generally the rule of thumb or is it more site-specific, would you say, lol? :)
STOP FLIRTING WITH ME!!! ;;D I believe in the old format of the SKMB there were a couple of people who 'met' here and then went on to establish relationships and I think one couple even married. Oh, and I'm gay, so that leaves me out of the mix for you! Ha! =D

His profile identifies him as male, so you’re in the mix!

This is a tough one. We want everyone to feel this is a safe space to come chat -- some innuendos get kicked around and flirting -- but it is all pretty harmless fun. Just silly and funny banter.

We have had cases where we have had to intervene because one person in the equation was feeling uncomfortable with the attention. So, it really has to be a mutual attraction that both enjoy and we prefer you keep it off the board and private.

Blunthead and I used to get pretty weird in the word association type games (so much so that Walter Oobleck commented on it) but we knew it was all just joking.

I think if someone felt uncomfortable they could just go to the mods and ask for help (I hope)!

My attitude is more "meh." I expect people will act like themselves. If they nudge or cross a line, I expect them to get called out on it, and if they do, I expect them to step back and respect the line. If they don't, I have an insight to their character, and it's not pretty.

In my case, as if it matters (it doesn't), I'd probably be oblivious to such a thing. Not because I don't get flirting. I'm just oblivious in general. I'm a pathological literalist, and nuances of human social behavior often escape me.
