Speaking of outrage......"when she called to report her husband coming home from work smelling like sex and alcohol, she was told “whatever happens on county property, in county time, is county business.”.
Yep. This is appalling. Now that it's county business, the county's next business will be to prosecute him to the full extent of the law.

And then will come the civil lawsuits. I have no pity for him.

sick bastid. Geez, I can understand why families used to take care of their loved ones in their homes. The wakes with the deceased laid out in the parlor. They sat with them until they were buried.

In your mirror.
Excuse me. I may be a little cranky. And I might not have been in the mood to read the *JOKES* about these victims and their family.

Or maybe we can share the *jokes* that were posted here with the families and pray they can find some humor in their tragedy.

I found that *joke* disgusting. (In a million years, I would not have thought to joke about this situation. But, that's just me.)

Peace.

I wasn't a fan of the jokes either, Sig. We put a lot of trust in the people that deal with our loved ones once they have gone--the hardest thing in those initial hours and days, is that they are not with us and it is difficult to not think of what might be happening with their remains... and so we have to trust that they are being treated respectfully.

My heart really goes out to these families. :(

The jokes don't bother me. I guess I'm one of those people that try to find something (humor) to hang on to in the face of a tough situation like this. Sounds like a famous M*A*S*H character, no? I would like to think that at death whatever makes me ........ me........ goes to a better place than a morgue. Does that mean I wouldn't mind someone screwing with mine or anyone's earthly remains? Absolutely not. I would be very upset too. Some people use humor as a coping device. I doubt like hell that if you have a personal stake in this your going to be slinging jokes around about ole Aunt Edna. Some jokes go over the line and some miss the mark. Making a pun or two in a situation like this is certainly not everyone's cup of tea and that is great. Be pretty dull if everyone shared the same opinion. Don't you think?

I do understand, Triple O... and normally I'm of the same opinion, I think I've been struggling a bit lately with sadness and my heart just could not get past what the suffering of family must be like.

Flake, you'll always be(e) the bees knees with me!! And having the emotions you are having now is perfectly right and natural. I feel awful for the families too. I guess I'm saying or trying to say that everyone has differing emotions and reactions to a difficult situation.

Damn, I wish I could express myself better.......:dizzy:

What can I do to put a smile on the face of one my favorite people here? Hmmmmmmmmmm?:D

Here's another point to consider: He had sexual relations with his wife year after year while he was doing this. What must that woman feel like now, knowing that her husband molested corpses at work then came home and was intimate with her?

I know it, plus if the quote in the story is correct, she knew something was going on.

A bit more detail (oh thank goodness, right?) in this article Morgue worker admits to having sex with up to 100 dead women - Americas - World - The Independent :

Douglas admitted to having had sex with Range’s corpse when she died in 1992. Her body had been slashed and she was reportedly nearly decapitated.

In 2012 he also pleaded guilty to having sex with the bodies of April Hicks, a 24-year-old woman who had fallen from a third-story window and who had died from blunt trauma, and to having sex with Charlene Appling on the day she died, between 1991 and 1992. Appling was a 23-year-old woman who was strangled while she was six months pregnant.

Just sick.

I think it's a good moment to remember that, yes, humans can find humor in just about anything. However, when the humor treads on sensitive issues, you tend to narrow the focus of whom you share that bad-taste humor with. We might make a joke out of a tragedy with a friend who shares our depraved tastes, but we wouldn't do so when starting our speech to the local chapter of the League of Women Voters.

When it goes onto an Internet forum, there is no such filter. The potential offense is offered to the world. So the filtering begins before that.

Are you sure you wanted to quote me about this? If you read back a couple I think you'll see that I had been a bit distressed by all of this, so yes I do understand what you're saying.
