It was a horrid way to lose the game here.

I had been hoping tomorrow night we could clinch the wildcard AND win the World Cup. (You know, the dome and the ACC are right close to each other. Having the two games start at the same time is idiotic. Must have been set up by the mayor.)

The hockey season is practically here, and, it is my understanding based on 6 trips to various parts of Canada, that everything is suspended and forgotten there until after the Stanley Cup is handed to the winner.

Weeeellllll! Kinda - sorta! But we do have more than one hockey team.

There have been times when the players on our sports team were confused. People would be sitting at a baseball game, early in the season, with headphones on listening to 'the game'. And I don't mean a few. I mean, when the Leafs scored, the fans at the Dome went crazy applauding....and if it happened to be when a Jay struck out, or opponent got on base....it was confusing and upsetting to the players. Now, at the dome they would show on the big screen what everyone was excited about.

And since the dome and the ACC are neighbours, the players go to each other's games. And last week Team Canada was at the dome.

Not to brag, but the two guys primarily responsible for team Canada winning the World Cup of Hockey were Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron. Who are both what?

Boston Bruins!!

You are just plain mean. You know that? :too_sad:

Because it's hard to know feelings or intention on the Internet, just thought I should clarify that I am NOT upset. If you actually ARE trying to offend, you'll have to try harder.

I'm not mean. Or trying to offend. Just stating a fact. The Bruins choked big time the last two years and did not make the playoffs either.

It's cloudy, off and on rainy, and cold :(

Tonight's game should not be a problem. Saturday and Sunday are another story.
How do you like them Yanks?! Yes, their season is over and the 4-game sweep by Red Sox was much more of an embarrassment, but I do feel vindicated in a way. The fans were very civil in Ortiz's send off too.

Well, the loss on Wednesday (walk off grand slam) was vomit inducing. Especially since it was Texeria who hit it  Never want to get swept but we won the division so I can't be too upset.

Sox fans were good to Jeter (who I always respected. played the game the right way) and Rivera (best closer ever. except against Ortiz and Manny Ramirez) during their last games at Fenway so I expected the same from Yanks fans for Papi.

Now guys like A-Rod and that traitor Damon deserved whatever booing they got :tongue-new:

What I want to know is when opposing pitchers are going to start throwing at Sanchez? He is way to comfortable up there and is raking. You'd think the pitchers would want to change that. Back in the day guys like Pedro, Clemens, and Randy Johnson would have plonked him already. Forget about it if he were facing guys like Nolan Ryan or Bob Gibson. He'd be dusting himself off at least once a game!

Today's umps are overly sensitive in that respect. One brush-off pitch and they'll start issuing warnings and handing out ejections.

My oldest called today to ask if his baseball gloves were still here. The last gloves I remember were when he was around grade 8 and played in a league. I found two gloves. One is probably garbage, but his first base glove looks good, but needs working in. So I found his dad's glove, which looks good, and a bit bigger.

I asked where he was planning to play. He said Boston. Because they need someone who gives d**n whether they win or lose.

(His coworkers are playing a game and invited him.)

Sox beat Jays. Jays got Papi'd :)

They did. Glad it was a clean win though. I hate when an important game appears to have an extra player on one team.

Had he announced his retirement before the season's schedule was announced? I'm glad he's getting to finish the season at home. Well, I guess since they're in post season maybe it doesn't matter as much. But, it's still nice for him and for the fans.

Yes, Papi announced his retirement in spring training.
