...you don't give the Tribe much credit...they've scrapped their way the whole season..

I'm not saying they're a bad team. But with 2/5 of their starters hurt they should be beatable. Not working out that way. I'm not expecting the Sox to come back. Not with Buccholz going Sunday.

...however, the Indians have a track record of stumbling after a nice start from the gate...

I have a question..

During post season play, the coach gets two challenges if he disagrees with a call. But if he challenges and the call is overturned, does it count as one of them? Seems to me, if two calls get overturned, he should still have his challenges available.

  1. Each Club will receive: (a) two (2) Manager Challenges to start each All-Star Game, postseason game and Divisional or Wild Card tie-breaker game; and (b) one (1) Manager Challenge to start every other game. A Manager may challenge as many reviewable calls within a single play as he desires using one challenge. If the Replay Official overturns any call challenged by a Club (even if he upholds other challenged calls), the Club retains its Manager Challenge. If the Replay Official does not overturn any of the calls challenged by a Club, the Club will lose its Manager Challenge. Once a Club has exhausted its available Manager Challenge(s), it will no longer have the ability to challenge any additional play or call in the game.

My picks as of now:

Red Sox beat Indians.
Texans beat Blue Jays.

Texans beat Red Sox

Giants beat Mets

Cubs beat Giants

Dodgers beat Nationals
Cubs beat Dodgers

Texans beat Cubs

Counted us out a bit early. Bonus...it was an Odor error that ended the game.

Happy Thanksgiving. :D

I'll try my best to be civil here. As a Yankee fan, yes, I'm happy the Sox are out of the contention. As a baseball fan, it's sad to see all that heartbreak on fans faces. I have a lot of respect for Big Papi (and none at all for Manny and Pedro). The guy is a first ballot HOF material hands down. Having said that, I'm off to the Football Cave to gloat over Panther's loss.

I like to see teams win at home. The fans get to join in the party, and it must feel a lot better for the team too.

We were watching highlights last night and when they were showing the locker room celebration DH actually said they didn't look really excited. But they didn't have the fans celebrating with them, and the room was really small.

The Toronto Maple Leafs.

The original Maple Leafs: Pro-baseball in Toronto before the Blue Jays

On Sept. 5, 1914, soon after Canada entered the First World War, a 19-year-old Babe Ruth was pitching for the Providence Grays in a game against the Maple Leafs.

Babe Ruth played hit his first professional home run for the Providence Grays in the International League. He would later go on to play for the Boston Red Sox and then famously the New York Yankees in the Major Leagues. (CBC)

The Bambino threw a shutout game, beating the Maple Leafs 9-0, but most notably Humber says, he hit his first professional home run to cash in three of those runs.

I was pleasantly surprised by Estrada's outing. Usually with so much time between starts he doesn't do well. Tonight he had his first complete game all season. Even though he didn't get a win, I'm not blaming him. Can't win when your team doesn't score, no matter how good a pitcher you are.

I thought the umps did a good job. There weren't a lot of really close calls. And though I wouldn't say I agreed with every single call of the home plate umpire, who ever agree 100%? It didn't seem really one-sided. And he let players complain without throwing them out.

And the guys calling the game also were pretty good. Much better than last year. I realize they don't have an affect on the outcome of the game (like a bad umpire) but they have an affect on viewer enjoyment.

A good game to start the series...but the wrong outcome. ;)
