But even so, I think most people don't follow that advice their entire lives. I think most people die having tried to be someone else.
I'm pretty sure that's not so. I think that nowadays most people die much older than that. I agree that a given human is capable of avoiding him/herself that long but what would be the motive to do so - for most people, I mean - after so many years? I can't imagine the specific types of individuals to which you are referring, especially being "most" people.
