I will have everything including the cat glued together. I am not a glue ninja. Glue and I --deathmatch!

Glue was my enemy as well. I was constantly getting it all over the place. By the end I was trying to clean up several spots on the case. Luckily the PVA glue dries clear so it's really hard to see the spots that I messed up. I might even be able to use a razor blade and scrape the glue off.

My little weekend project...First custom slipcase. Overall it turned out ok I think. Definitely need to figure out a better way to cut the boards. Every little imperfection in the cuts is visible once you start layering the cover on.

This is very, very nice. I was wondering if you used cardboard or some sort of wood and then I watched a bit of the video you posted and got the answer. How did you get the writing so perfect, especially the "Misery" part? I'm assuming you had stencils for the author's name.

It is binders board/book board. I found a font that closely matched SK name and created that and the Misery title in Photoshop, then used a Cricut to cut out the lettering. Pretty simple really. The hardest part is cutting the boards properly and glueing everything. I don't have an industrial board shear like that guy in the video.

Geez, good for you! I watched those videos and thought there was no way to attempt it without the industrial cutter! You did great! Very clever with the Cricut cutting! Can I ask how much you spent on the boards and papers?

Wow, I didn't know something like Cricut even existed! That must be wonderful to work with.
The industrial board shear is great as well, it looks so easy to cut with, instead of laboring with a paper cutter through that thick board like I'm doing at the moment (I make notebooks).
I watched the whole clip you posted and got a few useful ideas. And I'm so getting a roller or two for gluing and smoothing the page after.
Thank you!

Yeah, I did a lot of research for months on everything. I decided on the Cricut instead of the Silhouette after seeing lots of comparisons that the Cricut definitely cut better and more accurately. But the software totally sucks. It is a web based app and it is a real pain to use. The Silhouette software is supposed to be tremendously easier to use and is installed like a native app on your system.

I would love to get a better cutter. But even the more industrial tabletop guillotines are pretty pricey compared to a $10 dollar utility knife and elbow grease. And yes - the roller and the brayer are awesome!!! Such a great method for applying glue and ensuring that there are no air bubbles when it dries! Love that guy's videos!

Great job! And this was just your first one? By the 3rd or 4th I bet you'll be an expert!

The Silouette software is a nightmare as well.I woyld be lost without people posting youtube videos on it.
Have you heard of the generic blade sold for these cutting machines? I just found out about it.I bought the housing with three blades ( deep cut, reg.cut, intricate cut) off ebay for $16.00 and replacement blades are a few bucks. You can do an ebay search for"NEW Graphtec CB09 Blade Holder 30° 45° 60° Mix Blades for Vinyl Plotter Cutter" if you are interested in looking at them:)
