I am so excited!
Let me start by thanking Moderator . You mentioned sewing courses on Craftsy. I never actually thought of looking for on-line courses. So, I went there and found a short series of beginner courses. The first lesson is actually sewing a straight line on paper....I mean it is beginner. Thank you Ms. Mod.
The first project was a tissue cover. You know the little packs that fit in your purse.

Funny how it's sew simple when you know what you're doing. Lol. Unfortunately, my purse size packages open at the top, so this is useless...but I knew that before making it. It was a sewing learning experience.
I skipped making a pillow because...well, I do not have a pillow form AND it didn't appear to teach me anything new. So I went straight to a zippered pouch. I had been searching for something about the size of a make-up bag to carry my meds in. I decided to make one.

I need to work on the zipper. It's definitely not perfect. But it works and the bag fits what I need. And it was my first attempt at a zipper.
I have already used more stitches and feet since getting my new machine than I did all the years with my two previous machines.

I am considering designing what I want next, since I cannot find a pattern. I'm going to try to stick with small and relatively simple things. This is not natural for me. I tend to start with big advanced projects....but sewing seems to demand I learn it a bit at a time.
Making new things for the first time rarely comes out perfect. The fact that you tried and want to keep doing this, now that in itself is an accomplishment. Your little purse looks pretty neat.
