y'know, as easy as that recipe sounds, I'm still befuddled by "bake until cookies are set in center". What the heck does "set in center" mean? :(
It means, basically, just until they are not shiny like warm, raw cookie dough anymore. I wouldn't go longer than 12 minutes for the first sheet, then see if you like the texture of those when cool. (Twelve to 14 minutes is quite a long time to bake a cookie at 350.)

That's what I thought, too. Maybe it's the brownie mix, but I'd think 7-9 mins would be more appropriate.

I know champ1966 was being funny in that other thread, but I'm thinking about making brandy snaps now. It's been forever since I made them. But ... they're so delicate, and I'm not sure they'd freeze very well.

I was thinking about hosting a girly afternoon tea in the spring. Maybe I'll do those then. With scones and cucumber sandwiches and similar.

Those will be great for your tea party :)

There used to be a teahouse in Dallas that served cucumber sandwiches and other things... like fish in a jello mold.
What? No. NO FISH IN A JELLO MOLD.

I actually have some really good Earl Grey (double bergamot!) loose leaf tea ... I'm considering making these today.

At the recommended cooking time, I stick a toothpick down in the center of whatever it is and if it comes out clean when I remove it, no gooeyness on the toothpick, it's set in the center. That may not always work for something really thick like a quick bread because the toothpick isn't quite long enough to reach the middle but would for these. That's when I'd use a metal or wooden skewer instead.
