I've attended two different primary schools, because we moved halfway during what would be first grade if I'd lived in the USA. From the second school, a classmate organized a reunion for our class and a couple of years later the school organized a reunion because the school existed a certain number of years. I didn't attend either, as I don't look back particularly positive on my time there, but in both cases I got disappointed reactions afterwards that I didn't attend. I now think I should've gone, enjoy catching up with the ok people and just ignore the rest (or maybe discover they're ok now as well).

Speak of the devil... last october or november I found a note next to my doormat, from a classmate from my second primary school. He wanted to organize a reunion and asked everyone he could trace if they were interested. I phoned him and said I wanted to give it a try this time. After that I heard nothing for a couple of monts, until last month. Apparently it was kind of hard to choose a date that more or less everyone was available, so he just shouted a date and place to just go for a drink and then see who show up. The date was April 1st, so he got some suspicious reactions, but 12 people said they'd come, 3 cancelled last-minute and the other 9 (including me) showed up at some time between 18:30 and 20:00, and it was 0:00 before we knew it. So, I wasn't disappointed and I'll go again next time.
One person who wasn't there, who is one of the reasons I didn't quite enjoy my primary school days, turned out to be disliked by pretty much everyone. Maybe it wasn't just me after all...

You're very pretty, arista! So nice to put a picture with a name. Glad you had fun!

Excellent! I'm certain it wasn't just you - it rarely is. Those bully types are horrible even to their friends really.

I went to my 5-year reunion, it happened to be held in a restaurant that was right behind the crappy apartment house I was living in at the time. The year I graduated high school I was voted most likely to succeed, was president of the National Honor Society, wore glasses thicker than coke bottles, had a late 80's mullet, and wore button down shirts......

Shuffle....

The night I walked into my five year reunion, I had hair half way down my back all pretty much one length, had a couple of hair wraps (anyone remember those from the early 90's?;) wore contacts instead of glasses, blue jeans with the knees blown out, combat boots, and chain smoked Marlboro Reds. My lifestyle had....changed drastically. I didn't date much in high school, too friggin' shy and all the girls thought of me as pretty much a book worm nerdy type guy. I was telling my girlfriend at the time about this a couple of days before the reunion and I think she took it personally or something. She was early 90's grunge hippie as much as I was, but when she stepped out of the bathroom that night she looked like a super model. She was very beautiful anyway but for the most part she dressed like we all did back then in flannels, jeans, combat boots, etc. I asked her if we could just skip the reunion and stay home but I think she wanted to go more than I did. Anyway, to make a long story short, it was the only night of my life where I've felt like all the guys were staring at my girl and all the girls were wanting her dead. She told anyone who would listen how good I treated her and that she was shocked I didn't have a high school sweetheart to marry. I spent more time watching and listening to her that night than I did talking to all the a-holes I went to high school with.

The only other interesting part of the night was that some really cool rumors had somehow been started about me back in my home town. One guy told me he had heard that I had moved to California and been busted for drug possession (I've never been to California..ever.. and never been arrested for anything). Another rumor was that I had flunked out of college and moved to Texas...never even close to flunking out, maintained at least a 3.0 GPA the whole time, but at least I had actually been to Texas a few times. We ended up having a good time at the reunion but it all seemed surreal to me. The whole event was pretty entertaining. I never attended another one. By my 10-year reunion, I was married to someone else, had a son, and had become "respectable"..lol. It's strange how much your life can change from one five year span to another.
