I didn't enjoy King's appearance on Colbert's show. It wasn't the fault of either party, I think it was just the nature of the forum. Colbert has to be funny, and then he has to force King to try to be funny, and King really isn't a comedian. I would have rather seen King on something like Charlie Rose instead of Colbert.

It was too short, the questions were the usual suspects, etc. Of course, you could say this about a lot of King interviews, I suppose. I wish we could get some really good questions. What is the last thing you worked on that you stopped working on -- what would have been the name of the project? Is self-publishing making the industry worse or better?

A note on Colbert: I never watched his other show, but he appears to be an annoying interviewer (from that point of view, I suppose my disappointment with the interview was the fault of Colbert, but in a sense, I still won't blame him because at that point the template was set, and he has to do what he has to do to be consistent). If anyone caught the Scarlett Johansson interview, you surely would have noticed when she told him to stop, because he seems to do this thing where he constantly interrupts to inject some humor into the conversation. He seems to want the density of humor to be high. His interview with Bush was awful, no insights at all. I'm only somewhat familiar with his other character, but it seems as if he might be doing the same thing.

He needs to be more serious, and to get the most out of his guests. I get the impression he wants to book more guests like Elon Musk, but if he is going to talk to interesting people like that, drop the funny stuff and ask some interesting questions. Why wasn't King asked about the solemnity of the day, for instance? (I don't remember that he was asked about that, anyway.)

I thought Stephen King was incredibly funny; I didn't expect him to be that funny, but I couldn't stop laughing during his interview. ( you did pick up that there were joking about Donald Trump... right... I had to explain that to my parents.

I agree about Steven Colbert , he is not a good talk-show host

I really enjoyed the whole interview. I had watched the Colbert Report quite often, though, so was completely used to his way of talking and interviewing. Mr. King was just the right mix of humble and funny; he looked great and kept the humor going with Colbert without a hitch.
No one who knows Colbert would expect serious questions; that's just the way it is. I can see why someone might be disappointed who expected something else, though.

Seeing Mr. King twice in two days, first with Obama seriously receiving a much-deserved award; then with Mr. Colbert, showing his relaxed and comical self, has made me a very happy girl this weekend!

I felt the same, I really enjoyed the interview a lot. I will admit that after a good 20 minutes or so of Colbert I do grow tired of him . . .there's a sameness about him that gets to me like some singers.

He has been so busy . . .I'm concerned a little about that but seeing him has been great.
Me too, Char... he does so, so much and I wish he would beef up a little and get some more rest. But, it was wonderful seeing him, he truly is delightful to watch and listen to.
(But... I still don't think of him in that way. ;;D Although... he is improving with age! Don't tell him I said that, Marsha...)

I do not usually agree with mr rrty, but in this case,I do,but only as far as Colbert is concerned..not finding him funny at all..SK did a great job,I felt, with what he was handed..and the best part,he said as long as his constant readers enjoy what he does,he will keep on keepin on!! So I am expecting at least twenty or more years of good readin' ;)

The appearances are wearing on him . . .as he passed Colbert's desk last night he slightly touched it for support, I've watched a lot of his interviews over the years and I've never seen him do that. He is drained right about now.

He's lost way too much weight . . .

We love you Stephen . . .very much.

GNTLGNT . . .Giant did you catch the Flava shoutout? I thought of you . . .
