I love reading everyone's theories!!
I'm embarrassed that I didn't even think of the hospital situation having an impact on a family member's health issues.

I agree with Ms. Mod about

Carson staying on, but having mixed emotions about not residing in the big house anymore. I believe his Lordship mentioned that Carson had been at Downton since he (Lord Grantham) was in the nursery.

My other thought is

The only major character that will die will be Violet. Not sure how true this is, but I read that Maggie Smith made known this would be her last season BEFORE the show's creators decided the show would end this season. That and the fact that as much as I adore the Dame, she is up there I years, so the writers probably had a death ready for her character just in case the actress suddenly passed.

I'm not so sure about a heart attack as he keeps complaining about stomach issues but there will definitely be something critical happening. I do like Patricia's idea of that being a part of the whole hospital arc and changing Violet's opinion. I don't think Carson removing his name meant he's going to leave. They're just moving out of the house. He'd probably spent the majority of his life in that house/room so leaving it would be sad for him. I thought more that Barrows is getting a bit of karma for all the mean-spiritedness he's had over the years.

He's complaining of indigestion. That is one of the signs of heart attack, people don't realize they are having them, so they have these small "indigestion" moments that may be indigestion, or may be a sign of small heart attacks leading up to the big one, booM! HEART ATTACK!

OMG, if something happens to Lord Grantham, then what would Bates do? Would Anna become the housekeeper when Mrs. Hughes leaves?

I think the Bates' will be butker/housekeeper if the Carson leave Downton. I just can't see Thomas as the butler for some reason. I know that millions of people already know how the whole thing ends hut I'm glad I haven't seen any spoilers about episodes that haven't aired in US yet. One of the seasons I bought the dvd set and watched it all before the 2nd episode even aired here. I wished I had waited.

That used to be the case but not so with this Board's software. We have to click on the spoiler button to read it, too. The problem with moderators seeing them, though, is if one of them watches the show but hasn't seen that particular episode when it's their turn to moderate. We either have the choice of reading the spoiler or letting another moderator know that they haven't checked that thread so one of them would do it instead. And it's just courtesy to anyone else who might not be completely caught up with all the episodes.

And thank you for doing the spoilers even though it doesn't completely make sense to you--I do understand your reasoning.

Ahhhh, I see. Thanks. I understand completely now. It's nice the mods don't have that old software anymore! YAY! It's not like wrapping a spoiler around a post is hard or anything. It only takes a second to do.

I watched the first couple episodes of this season yesterday and I see now why y'all like it Starting to watch on the sixth season isn't as confusing as I thought it might be. I got a little confused with who's who... I confused Rita with Daisy because they were wearing similar cloche hats (I love cloche hats, I wish hats would come back into style lol). Can someone tell me what the deal is with Mrs. Drew and Marigold? I couldn't figure that out.

Do you have a library near by? Our library lets you check out seasons of popular shows.
You'll be glad nobody spilled the beans about Marigold when you see the events leading up to it etc. So before I spill the beans myself, I'm going to shut it.

Thanks Our little town does have a library. I doubt it has DVDs but I've been wanting to check it out so I'll see if it has DVDs.

Wikipedia spilled the beans lol. They have a list of main characters with lots of info and also a family tree which is helpful. I had four different theories about Marigold - all of which were incorrect lol.

I watched the third episode last night and I have another question Is the guy who helped Edith with the magazine a new character? Since Edith recognized him, I'm curious as to if his character was in previous seasons.

If he is, I don't remember him. I'd thought the connection mentioned in their meeting was just so that it would establish she wasn't going off with someone she didn't even know. I'm hoping it has some happy possibilities for her.
