How can you not like summer?! Yeah, it might be hot but I'd take that over 6 inches of snow, 30 degree temps, and having to shovel out my freakin' car any day!

Winter stopped being cool once I became an adult and found out snow will never cancel work!

Chewin' out a rhythm on my bubblegum, the sun is out and I want some..........

Everything except bugs that bite and humidity. Only wish it lasted longer!

You should move out here to Colorado! Almost no humidity, and faaaarrrrrrrr fewer bugs than other places. Plus, winter is not much different from Spring or Fall, and every time it snows, it all melts away day or two. We call it "the solar plow!"

Also, no hurricanes or earthquakes, and tornados are a rarity. We only have one poisonous snake, and it warns you when you get near it. >rattle, rattle, rattle< We do have Black Widow spiders, but they are small and cute and don't bite without provocation. We may have a Brown Recluse spiders, but we may not. It depends on who you ask. No killer bees, hardly any mosquitoes (none if you're up high enough) and even the flies are pretty mellow compared to the Midwest and other lower, moister altitudes.

Of course, we have no surfing. We don't have any lobsters, crabs or other seafood to speak of, although there are some yummy trout to be pulled out of the rivers. Our skin cancer rates are higher, because being a mile closer to the sun means there is less atmosphere to filter the rays. Also, "less atmosphere" also means "less oxygen" but you get used to that pretty quickly.

And, the state very boring shape. If you're coming from, say Maine, you will find it very odd when you see the map for a while. (So, where are we? We're the rectangle. No, not that one, that's Arizona. Nope, that's New Mexico.) At least Utah has that notch bitten out he corner, or this would very bland and difficult to navigate part of the country!

Come visit, I promise you'll want to stay. :)

*Never too hot
*Never too cold
*Humidity? Nah....
*Nothing poisonous
*No wild-ass animals (hmm, maybe a few of the human kind :Oo: )
*Some fairly nice views
*Free health care (if you become a citizen) ;;D

*Okay, we do get earthquakes (had one this morning) but hey... who doesn't occasionally want their world rocked? :biggrin2:

You tell 'em! What she said.

And while lawn mowing is just fine for me - gives me an excuse to get the gluteus in gear - you can debate how bad it is while shoveling snow in the winter. Six/half dozen.

New Zealand is a place I could live. Could be the prettiest country in the world. And yes, no natural predators. And the red deer is mighty tasty.

Although it's not always nice. We were on the west coast of the south island, moving up to Nelson, and it was a constant cold rain. I kinda like cold rain, so it didn't bother me, but the others in the party were chilled to the bone for two days. (And while we loved NZ, I have to say that the cathedral in Nelson looks to offer the best style that 1970s East German engineering would have to offer. I don't care if the royals were there sometime. Just not all that great-looking.)

Flake is more authoritative, of course, but I will say it was mildly expensive doing the tourist thing. But it's the same way in the States. Although I'm sure that bleak neighborhoods exist, we didn't see them. It all looked nicely middle class.

Their health care system is admirable.

Their coffee is abominable (sorry, Flake, but I'm sticking to that).

They have neat towel bars that are heated, so when you hang up your towel before a shower or bath, you've got a heated towel to dry off with.

Fair warning: You have to drive on the left side.

Friendly people. Not as friendly as Ireland, but pretty darn friendly. They have their mix of tree-huggers and rednecks (I don't know what Kiwis call rednecks), same as the U.S. At least, that was my experience in talking to the locals.

I'm an outdoorsy kind of girl. Boating, hiking, camping when I can. ..
'Best Kind' if you ask me; as a female, I loathe ' high maintenance' women. Often times, they focus too much on shiq that doesn't matter, (clothes, hair, blah blah) and too little on stuff that makes life great (books, philosophy, how we can help others, poetry, learning new stuff...).

Reason I ask is I've been tempted to consider moving out of the U.S., and I heard that New Zealand was where to go. But I also heard it'd cost too much for me.

Oh yeah... duh. Another plus! :biggrin2:
How did NZ end up with nothing bitey? It seems like everything is out to kill you (sand everything else) in AUS! Even the sun (A friend is Perth sent me a "Diary of a Pom" that is hilarious :D)
We let the Aussies take all that fun stuff...
What's the cost of living like?
Probably similar to the States...

Yar, we try not to think about the West Coast down there... a special breed, that lot. :biggrin2:

I think I could really get into New Zealand. You guys don't have those horrifying jellyfish like Australia? Even if you do, I would just stay out of the water, so that's not a deal-breaker....

New Zealand always looks so beautiful in movies and photos.

Free health care, definitely not something we have here in Colorado. But, marijuana is legal. That's got to count for something!

It's Summer. It's a law that someone in the community must lose an eye.

That kid already paid in teeth, so I'm sure he's fine.

Ah... The grass under your feet, the smells of the woods when you take a walk, the ability to go down to the beach and take a bath without shivering. Ok, you got me. I guess i'm a softie but i really love nature in summer. Look at it or walk through it or lie down in it and read a book is what makes summer so good.

We do have jellyfish but I don't think they're the stinging kind. (don't quote me, though...)
