So the Patriots fired Jim McNally and John Jastremski, the two team employees at the center of Deflategate, after the release of the Wells Report. Now the Patriots claim they’re innocent. Did they hire them back? And why would the Patriots fire them in the first place if the two men were as innocent as they claim?

Tom didn't like the way they handled his balls.

I'm sure the two got a nice "retirement" package from The Owner. I'm also thinking that they might have a tidy $um coming in the mail, in the form of an advance for what I'm sure will be a bestseller.

LOL. And he sure did throw them under the bus, didn’t he? Can these guy’s ever have hopes of finding another job in the industry? I guess they can always sue the Pats for wrongful termination now.

It's a pretty crappy way to handle guys that probably don't make much money (but why should this be different than any other situation in life? ;-D). Lack of evidence aside, common sense says that there is no way someone made adjustments to game balls without Tom Brady's approval. Why would they?

I hope Tom and/or Robert Kraft found a way to give them a nice parting gift.

I think their email exchange might have been reason enough to fire them even Deflategate aside. From what I've seen of it, it doesn't sound like they had an amicable working relationship and when it comes to a choice between the star quarterback or the guys who inflate/deflate the balls, which do you think they'd choose? Rhetorical question.

Were they private emails? I doubt we'd hear Jastremski and McNally making any public comments about what happened as they probably signed documents from the Patriots preventing them from making public comments about their work with the team. They’d be sued by Kraft into oblivion if they did. So suing the Pats for wrongful termination would probably make sense, and be the least cost through settlement to the Patriots in the long run if they wish to stick with the fairy tale of a person losing weight as to why he was called the Deflator.

I'm sure they'd find a lawyer to take up their cause, whether it's a good one or not. I realize this isn't one I can be objective about but feel it's a witch hunt as more information comes out about how the investigation has been handled, not even the same gauge being used to check the balls, the animosity of the guys who were responsible for the footballs, etc. I do think going forward it's a good idea for the league to have someone independent of the teams be the ones responsible for inflating the balls especially given the comments by other quarterbacks and players about how they've tried to skirt the rules due to their personal preferences.

From an article on CNN:

Please allow me to introduce you to the late Patricia Shong. She was 72 years old and seems to have been a lovely woman. From her obituary in the Auburn Mass. Daily:

Patricia enjoyed scrapbooking, cross stitching, pixel art, knitting, and crocheting. She relished weekly card night with the ladies. Patricia was known for being an avid reader which all who knew her can attest to based on her mini home library. She especially loved spending time with her family. She would also like us to set the record straight for her: Brady is innocent!!
