I heard a proposal by a sports columnist on NPR today.

Don't have the mandated inflation levels. Just let the quarterback have it inflated the way he wants. Then every team is on equal footing. Or grip.

This makes sense to me. Baseball players with their bats, golfers with their clubs, tennis players with their racquets, hockey players with their sticks - they're all allowed some latitude for their personal preferences. Let 'em put the air in the ball that they want. Everyone will have a different sweet spot between aerodynamics and grip. Let 'em have it.

Wouldn't you have to do the same for the kickers?

If they want to stick with a range of psi that's fine. Just have the officials keep possession of the game balls once they are officially weighed. That way, no one has the opportunity to mess with them.

My last comment on the suspension length.

A 4 game suspension in footbal equates to 25% of the season. Would you think that a 40 game suspension would be appropriate for pitcher in baseball that doctored the ball (used spit, rosin, vaseline, what have you for a better grip / more downward movement)? 40 games is about 25% of a baseball season. Same type of offense. Seems way too harsh of a penalty. Two games seems about right.

I'm not surprised the hammer was brought down hard. The punishment may not fit the crime, but it seems that the Patriots (Or Tom Brady's) lack of cooperation was the bigger offense and that's what really brought the hammer down.

The Patriots have an uphill battle if they want to duke it out with Iron Fist Goodell.

Was watching ESPN or some sports program and, they said that this was 'easy' compared to the Saints penalty.

E.G. Sean Payton was suspended for a year for something the players and/or their defensive coach knew about/participated in, but, Belichick gets nothing......

They are talking about "bounty-gate" I think. That was when the Saints coaches were giving bonuses to their defensive players that caused injuries to opposing players. That's an apples to oranges comparison. Completely different set of circumstances and types of offenses.

Kraft is really p*ed off at Goodell. Remember, Kraft is a big deal with the other owners and the owners employ Goodell. Kraft has always supported Goodell's lunacy before but that may change after this. If it turns into a battle between Kraft and Goodell, the guy with the most money always wins in the end.;-D
