The past seasons would be an On Demand feature. We have DirecTV and the On Demand modem was free and very easy to hook up. I'm not sure if that was a special they were running at the time or not, but they called up one day out of the blue and said "why don't you have On Demand..it's free and easy....?" And for a change it was...LOL. It's great. The only drawback would be if your wireless signal is slow at your house. Ours lags at times, especially when my son is destroying the universe on his Xbox, but other than that no problemo.

Because I work from home 2 days/week, I have business class high speed internet so that wouldn't be an issue. I'm more concerned about what kind of hoops I'll need to jump through or if DirecTV will try to extend my contract because I'm making a change. The On Demand might require a longer commitment than I want to make, too. Might be I'd be better off buying the DVDs! ;-D

I've had the On Demand service for over two years and, I'm sorry, but I can't for the life of me remember whether or not it made a difference in commitment. There definitely was no charge for it though that much I do remember. HA!

Read the fine print!!!!

Ohhh....we already have that but I didn't think we could get GoT since we don't subscribe to HBO. I think my partner switched something around a while back and disconnected it so might need to buy another cable to hook it back up again. He's the electronics guru and master of the remote in this house so in this case, you know nothing..... definitely applies!

:biggrin-new:

If you do get it hooked back up you can still go to the HBO channels and access the On Demand area to see what is available should you decide to subscribe to HBO. I know that GOTs is available because we watched some of Season 1 over the weekend....:p They have most, if not all, of the HBO series available. You should get it to watch VEEP. I know you'd love that one....LOL

They're offering the 30 day free trial and it looks like HBO Now would have all seasons, all episodes available but can't find the fine print to see what happens at the end of the 30 days.

VEEP is the one with Julia Louis-Dreyfus?

Not sure what would happen after the free trial other than you'd get about a thousand phone calls from them asking you to sign up permanently to HBO....LOL

Yes that's the one with her. Its a hoot, but it is weird when she drops the "f" bomb. I didn't think Elaine used such language....:applause:

I *think* the on demand is included with HDTV dvr service, and anything a particular channel offers on their on demand channel would be available, IF you are a subscriber to that channel. So if you subscribe to HBO, you should be able to access the past seasons of GoT.

I think you could record all episodes during a free trial, but not sure about being able to view them past the free trial. They would most likely be blacked out after the trial.

Where are you at now in book 5?

I was just going to post that.....LOL

I'm stuck in a rut!! Only about 150 pages in and no Dany yet!! I'm up to where
Mance is getting ready to be torched by Stannis and The Red Woman. I thought all the parts with Jon sending The Maester, Sam and Gilly to Oldtown was a waste because we already know they are going there. I guess it was good to have a little background, but I don't know. It was good to see Davos again though.

I'm hoping to get a lot of it read soon because football season is right around the corner.....:D

:D

I must say that I'm loving all the little differences and a few large ones in the #5 as opposed to the show.

Speaking of which, have you made the plunge yet, Ms. Mod?:applause:
No, still haven't seen any of it. To be honest, it fell into the "out of sight, out of mind" category not long after I got done with the books.
