Woke up to a dusting of snow. Most of it melted but still cold, only 33F at the moment, so will be slow melting off the rest.

Two new fires closer to home this week. One in Ashe county has consumed over 400 acres, and a new one in the Sampson community started last night......my uncle lives in Sampson.....still no rain in sight
Here's the pic of the Sampson fire
No, that one was done by the local newspaperUh oh.........did your Uncle take that picture, Sunny?
Not going to be a white Thanksgiving here either. 29F this morning, ice in outside water dishes, and turkey day with oven blasting heat- predicted to be 86F plus.

The melting off part is the only thing I would consider lucky. It did at least finally motivate me to call someone about plowing my driveway. I've been in denial for some time now but that could backfire on me if we had an actual snowstorm which really is a matter of when, not if.Lucky!

I've heard some people actually enjoy them. Unfortunately (since I live here), I'm not one of them.I guess it's pretty much a given where you live there's going to be snow. Just a matter of when and how deep it will be. Someday I'm going to go somewhere and witness a real winter...lol

The older I get, and since I’ve had to give up skiing, the more I agree with you. Was it two years ago we had that big snowstorm right before Thanksgiving?I've heard some people actually enjoy them. Unfortunately (since I live here), I'm not one of them.

I remember having to use the snowblower to clear two large areas in the yard for people to park on Thanksgiving.
Agreed--that combination of heat and high humidity is just about as bad. The only saving grace for that side of it, though, is that you don't have to worry as much about having an auto accident because of weather conditions.I'm sure it's the same about hot, humid summers...or maybe not, not sure if anyone likes those. I've lived here all my life and still don't like summers where I live.
Born and raised in NY/ lived in NJ too. Winters are beautiful until you have to drive in them to work, shovel the driveway, get you car unstuck, etc. Been in the south 48 years. Do I miss the snow, yes -but had a reminder when attended my dad's funeral during the blizzard of 2000. I'll take the heat and humidity.I guess it's pretty much a given where you live there's going to be snow. Just a matter of when and how deep it will be. You forgot about the blinding rainstorms during rainy season. Think white out.Agreed--that combination of heat and high humidity is just about as bad. The winter from hell. It didn't snow any more than average IIRC but when we got storms, we got a LOT.The older I get, and since I’ve had to give up skiing, the more I agree with you. Was it two years ago we had that big snowstorm right before Thanksgiving?

Pretty rare here so didn't think of that. You forgot about the blinding rainstorms during rainy season. Think white out.
