I'm not really angry, but I had an odd thing happen to me.

I was at Lowe's the other day, looking at the patio things they had out. I was wearing a t shirt with a sugar skull on the front. Two employees walked by me talking to each other. They didn't say hi to me or acknowledge me in anyway. No, "can I help you?" or anything like that, which is fine. That isn't the odd thing. These employees pass me and keep walking.

Then, one of the employees, female, turned around and came back to me and loudly asked me, "Did you wear that shirt so everyone would look at your boobs?" -- I kid you not.

At the time, I was a little taken aback, but I just said, "no." And then looked down to see what the big deal was. Well, the eyes of the sugar skull were on each boob, so it looked like a bug eyed sugar skull. Okay, I see what you were going for. BUT REALLY? You made it a point to turn around and come back and ask me if I was wanting people to look at my boobs. Loudly.

I just said, I guess I won't wear this shirt again. And she said, oh no, don't do that.

The whole thing was weird. But I didn't really give it anymore thought, but as time has gone on, I'm thinking, she is really lucky I did not complain. She could have been in huge trouble, possibly losing her job.

What would you have done?
Rip her up one side and down the other, in my best polite manner (I'm congenitally unable to be rude, sadly), and suggest that we ask her manager what he/she thinks. My daughter would have said, "No, that's just a side benefit," and walked on (She's much sassier than I am). This employee is a liability.

I was really shocked the more I thought about it. When she asked if I wore that shirt so people would look at my boobs, my son told me I should have said, "Yes! I did!" and walk off.

See? Kids. :) I would talk to the manager, employee present, but that's just me and it likely wouldn't do any good. Retail is crying for employees, and if someone does a halfway decent job it's hard to get fired (unless they steal money, equipment, or download porn on company equipment--lol). A co-worker of my daughters called a customer a crackhead and didn't even get written up, and that woman went BALLISTIC.

Sunny? You quoted me but I don't see your comment? Oh wait, I see your comment mixed in with mine.

It was like she was trying to shame me. Females are so mean to other females, and I just think she had an urge to put me down.
Sorry 'bout that.....I'm at work and posting from the damnphone today, and sometimes it goes all wonky.

I want to know where I can get one of those t shirts.......maybe it will make my boobs look like they've moved back home......or at least take some attention from my rear end!
HA! I got mine in the men's department at Target years ago. (men's shirts are longer waisted and much softer than women's t shirts.)

I know! Why are women's shirts so damn short?! Eddie Bauer is the only retailer I've found whose women's shirts are generally long enough and stay that way (because you can specify 'tall'). Even LL Bean's shirts shrink up. My daughters and I are all tall (5'9", 5'10" and 6') and we all shop for t-shirts in the men's section far more often than in the women's.

By the time I get women shirts pulled over my boobs, they hit me at my belly button. To get them over my boobs and long enough, I'd have to buy these big pancho blanket shirts that billow around me like a cloud.

Men have long waists, so I can get a shirt that fits over my boobs, and stays down when I am moving. I hate my belly to show, even though I know it's the cool thing nowadays.

Besides, if my gut is showing, no one's paying any attention to my boobs. :glare:

From your description, I can’t for the life of me figure out why something like this would cause a stir at a hardware store. :facepalm_smiley:

Think it's in the air. Pollen on skin.

I hope not. I've never had an issue with pollen, so if a first reaction was this severe, I want a bubble to live in.

It was like she was trying to shame me. Females are so mean to other females, and I just think she had an urge to put me down.

I had a bit of a mean girl thing happen on the weekend too. I was shopping with my husband for some clothes. After buying something I was soooooo happy with, he asked if I was using my regular purse. I said I had a smaller fancy one that I think will go with it. It's big enough to fit my epi-pen but not much else. And a woman ahead of us on the escalator took the time to turn to me and roll her eyes at me. Not so much that she was trying to shame me....but make me feel bad for being me?

Let us hope that lady never has the need for an epi-pen! For those with life threatening issues, it is a life saver and the most important item in a purse.

I would have said, "Yes I did. I'm glad to see you noticed. You should see my pants that show off my ass. I'm sure you would have the bad manners to say something to me about those too. By the way, did you wear YOUR skull so everyone would know you had a brain? I didn't think so."
I swear I would say this.
