welcome to "the system". Make sure you document everything- get some paperwork reguarding what other rents are in the area so you can also prove you are charging less rent. Anything and everything you have as a legal proof. ( to much Judge Judy) you do need recipes of any expenses. Bank statements if needed, texts, anything in email/ written.
Any doctor visits for you or hubby that proves under additional stress-- documentation is the key. Pictures of damages. Pictures she/he are spend $ and not paying rent. You probably know all this already-- but be prepared. The system is not fair.

Absolutely. Even bringing in the other renter and our daughter as witnesses. We know that tenants are the only ones who can be harmed, as far as the legal system is concerned. :apologetic:

There's a bill in our legislature right now that would make it easier for landlords to get rid of squatters. But it won't pass/become law in time to help us.

So... the tenant from Hell has won again. Some time between 6:30 and 8:00 Thursday night, she stuffed a hastily filled-out response into our storm door. B found it when he came in from work. It was filled out incorrectly, did not have the stamp from the County Clerk, stated on Pg. 2 that she had "under penalty of perjury" hand-delivered the document to me. She did not. That's 3 strikes, right: 1) late, 2) not hand-delivered and 3) perjury regarding point #2.

The judge ignored all of that. She refused to enter a default judgment because "well, she did respond." Now, look... we had to have everything filled out properly, do everything at the proper time and place, everything just so. We jumped through every hoop. The eviction notice says, right at the top and in bold, that a response must come on or before March 2, 2017 at 4:30pm. It does not say "whenever you get to it, preferably at the last minute and incorrectly." If that deadline can be tossed aside so lightly, why is it there at all? WHY have a deadline if the law does not recognize it?

So we are forced to file yet another paper, pay an additional $112 and have a hearing date set. We managed to get all of that done before 4:00 today. Our hearing is set for the 17th and, by God/dess, I hope the luck of the Irish is with us because we are going to go broke with this. It's been 4 months now. We should have taken in $4400 over that time (plus a $700 deposit we never got); we were given $200 in December to cover that month's electric bill (the name change hadn't taken effect yet). Now, we don't charge the going rate for rent around here. $1100/mo is below average for a 4 bd/2 bath on land. So the rent is not meant to enrich us. It costs money to maintain this land and the buildings on it. We are not "rich landlords."

This is making my husband sick with stress and I am genuinely scared that he might have a heart attack. I don't know what to do! What does this evil person want? (And, yes, she is evil. She is purposely inflicting pain upon others) I mean, does she think that we're going to just let her live there as long as she wants for free? Does she want the house signed over? I'm at the end of my -- very frayed -- rope.

Thanks for letting me vent. I now return you to your regular MB reading experience. :love_heart:

Just sent my bank the following:

Hey, I was out of town trying to make a purchase at a store where my debit card was declined through what proved to be an equipment malfunction. Using my phone I tried to log into my banking account to prove plenty was still in it. I entered what I was sure was my correct username but due to EVERY SINGLE SITE HAVING DIFFERENT PASSWORD RULES have never been as sure about password. Like most stupid websites, your stupid website does not give the SLIGHTEST HINT of how many characters a password must contain and whether or not a capital is required in either username, password, or both. So after MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS using EVERY COMBINATION I could come up with of everything I can POSSIBLY IMAGINE I might have used both for username and password (being on my phone, when your site gives me enough trouble on the computer, for all I know, one of these was right but every attempt was rejected as wrong), I was locked out of online banking and had to go out to my car for my checkbook (which I usually don't use, but take along just in case) for the account number to sign into telephone banking so I could call and find out I was right in the first place and it was the fault of the store's card reader. Of course, I should have thought to just ask the clerk to run the card again but it so annoyed me being declined I went through all this. Your and other sites should take measures to make things easier for your customers to prevent them enduring such agonies! GIVE A HINT as to number of characters and use of capitals, or ASK A QUESTION to access AT LEAST A CLUE AS TO THE FIRST LETTER of the password FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Now I need to have online banking reopened please.

P. S. Oh, man, that was funny. I wrote this email to my bank, then thought it was pretty good so copied to a friend, this and another favorite message board, and Facebook. Literally the instant after I posted on FB the phone rang. It turned out some bank employee in the region was working till 8:00 and called about the email! He was really super nice and got my online banking restored without my having to create a new password when as I said it’s hard enough remembering the old one and getting it to work.

Cori, check out the Random Thoughts thread. Do you have a smart TV? Lol
Read the thread tonight, it'll make sense. Glad you got it fixed.

Are you sure it was someone from the bank? I rarely do business over the phone, and never if THEY call ME.

I have had a 1-877 number calling my cell phone repeatedly for about three days now. Finally called my bank manager on Saturday.

She told me to give her the number on Monday (I plan to pop in to the branch after my hair appointment).

I don't think it is really my bank, although they identify themselves as such.

Not really enough to make me angry - more of an annoyance actually.

Yes, despite the sinister theories, a bank guy was working late and saw my email. He either had my number on file with my account or looked it up in the public phone listings. I sent a message to the bank commending his superior efforts and received an acknowledgement. Had it not been one of their own, the bank would have been rather suspicious!

Ugh... I am in the middle of an argument on another forum with somebody who believes that the Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax. I am being polite and respectful. I am posting calm, factual rebuttals to all of the convoluted and misguided claims they are making. When I prove that a claim of theirs is based on a basic misunderstanding, they don't acknowledge it at all but just post another piece of nonsense, like a photo that they say is "obviously" photoshopped.

Do you know what? I'm done. I've had enough. I am expecting someone to respond reasonably and rationally when they have already shown that they are just not going to do so. This situation has actually been bad for my health. When I switched on the computer last night and read their last reply, I was actually shaking with anxiety, fear, anger and great, great sadness.

You can lead a horse to water, but you really can't make it drink, and it's a fool who tries.

You're so right, Ms Mod. I am just going to walk away from this one and stop engaging with them, because this really has been affecting my health. I can't help feeling that I am letting the side down and allowing the Truthers and the "alternative facts" brigade to win, but I really do need to stop.

Thank you for your kind words. :semi-twins:

Gaaaaaah

The used copy of Skeleton Crew I ordered off Amazon came without its dust jacket. Dammit. Now, I'll have to hunt down a dust jacket or just rebuy it again when I get the chance. I know it was only a dollar so, I shouldnt have expected great and its still readable.

But Different Seasons hardcover was also used from Amazon and in hardcover and that came super nice and shiny.

Bad weekend. Mom's pipes froze Saturday morning (been super cold here again - surprise, surprise!). Usually when that happens, we can get them thawed out with a blow dryer and with the neighbor's space heater within a few hours. Not this time. Didn't have any water until this afternoon. Went to the store to buy drinking water and had to boil snow for additional water.

Friday after work, mom's radiator went from cold to hot, to steaming by the time she got home. Luckily the engine didn't blow up. I had continuous radiator problems with my old Jeep and have a nasty scar on my hand to prove it. LOL Anyway, had to get antifreeze on Saturday and fill up radiator and pray we could get her minivan to the mechanic's shop before all the fluid ran out. We made it, thank God! They are working on it now. Praying it won't cost a fortune.

My brother brought over a kerosene heater yesterday to try to warm the underbelly of the trailer to thaw the pipes. Until park manager told us we couldn't use it. Had to call in the pros this morning - heat tape and rod were shot and had to be replaced. $500. Am grateful she has water now. Almost cried when I saw the water start coming out of the faucet. :smile2:
