I can finally tell you all that I'm going to be a grandmother for the first time! My daughter wanted to wait until the miscarriage risk was over and things are looking good even though she's only 8 weeks along. She had her first ultrasound and heard the baby's heartbeat yesterday. She texted me a pic which made me a little verklempt. My first grand baby pic. Due date is November 30.
Congrats. Hopefully being a grandma will mellow you out (j/k). :)

;-D What a good sister you are! I'm hoping my daughter will be happy with the clothes I'm making. I know she'll be a lot like you and wear them anyway and will be grateful for the effort. I've been trying to tell her about the cutest jacket pattern I found and have made--well, have one more decorative stitch to add but otherwise it's done. Her enthusiasm even after sending her a pic of the pattern seemed a bit lukewarm but it really is cute in person so hopefully she'll think better of it once she sees it. Here's a pic--wish they'd had something like this when I was pregnant!

Absolutely the most wonderful news! Congrats to your daughter. May it be a calm and enjoyable pregnancy with a quick and easy delivery. Healthy baby and proud grandma. Sew to your hearts content, Marsha. She'll love everything. Get busy on the diapers--- that is a must have item.
Ginger is good for nausea. Happy Dance!!!!

I'd offer to make one for you but after this one, don't think I'll be making another. The darn thing has 3 separating zippers and for anyone who sews, you know how much fun putting in zippers is. And just to give myself a little more challenge I discovered after I'd put one in and sewn on the extension facings that I'd put them in on the opposite sides to where they needed to be to zip up with the bigger part of that insert on top. The air was a deep shade of blue around me for the next hour it took to rip them out and sew back in in the right direction.

The only thing I can think of that would get my knickers in a bunch would be if he/she grows up to be a Republican. ::P
My money is on the baby being a girl. Could be a boy though. Well now that that's settled.
That reminds me of a story... eeegads.
I was hanging out at my sister's house with my g-nieces. They were about 7 and 10 at the time. They were in their room, then I heard them fussing at each other. I'd planned on letting it run it's course. I would intervene if it didn't stop within about 5 minutes. Then I hear a howling sound coming from the youngest... she came running into the living room and fell into my arms. She was doing the hitching cry thing.
I held her close and asked her what happened. She caught her breath and looked at me with tears streaming down her face and said, Aunt Patty, you go tell Amie that I AM NOT A REPUBLICAN!

Thanks so much! I sent her a link last night to a site that sells the supplies for making the diapers so she could pick out designs she likes for the PUL fabric. She was pretty excited about all the choices they have.

My daughter has had two dreams already that it's a girl and our side of the family has a lot more females than males so I wouldn't be surprised if it is a girl. And will try not to secretly wish for one because they're so much more fun to make clothes for.

You'll be a wonderful grandmother! Congratulations to you and your family!
Thank you! I just wish we were closer. It's a 4-1/2 hour drive each way to visit. Almost makes me think seriously about moving back to MA but then my better judgement kicks in. With FaceTime and Skype and whatever else will be around in the future, it will make keeping in touch face-to-face a lot easier, though.

:grinning: awesome! Thanks.

It has been a very long time since I crocheted. I probably just can do a good chain now. :)
I'm more of a knitter than a crocheter but these are just so darn cute the I'm going to give them a try. I've loved them since I first saw them a few years ago and was hoping I'd have the opportunity to make them for a grandbaby.

Oh, that will happen, no doubt about it. Just won't be as often with the distance to drive as it would if we lived closer together. That's not likely, though, as I have no desire to live in the city again and she and her husband have no interest in living in Maine again. I'm hoping that after retirement and baby is older, Nana (me) will have a chance to have the grandchild visit for a week or two at a time and get the country experience.

Wonderful news! Congratulations!! November is a great time to have a baby - right there between the end of the regular football season and the beginning of bowl games. The election will be over. Right around family holidays and gatherings! Just perfect in all ways! Somehow I think FaceTime and Skype just won't be enough for you - holding babies is the best. Girls are fun to dress, boys are fun to play with - all their noises and superhero costumes! Either way you're going to have a blast! Have you thought about what you want to be called? My mom is Grammy, the Ogre's mom chose Grandmother. edit: I just saw you will be Nana!
