Slightly off topic, kind of, well it nearly fits. Anyway.

Welsh as an old language doesn't have words for a lot of new things.

Therefore the introduction of microwave ovens caused an etymological challenge.

Someone put on their thinking cap and started by thinking "Hmmm well the Welsh word for oven or bakehosue is popty"

And then in a flash of inspiration decided upon popty-ping for microwave.

I like it a lot.

From hence forth I shall call the microwave a popty-ping. I love it.

Well, a walkie-talkie describes precisely what the object is supposed to do. With that in mind, would birds be twitter-flaps? Would horses be called clopetty-poops? Would chairs perhaps be called sit-upons?

Or perhaps we would live in a world where everything must rhyme...in which case oranges would be "roundie eaties". ;;D

Some folks in Newfoundland call wine pinky. So the inventor of a wineglass would call it....drinkie pinky.

Sorry, I am outside of my mind. It's Sig's fault.
Patricia don't worry. If you lose total control, I will call the paramedics with the big needles.
