I'm screwed.
The green zone will only be safe short term. After all the nuclear power plants melt down due to neglect, most of that green will be glowing in the dark. Here is the true safe zone. I know Grandpa and I think Skimom2 will be safe but the majority of the rest of us better have our hiking boots and AR15's handy. I'm heading to Utah (daughter #2 has a place there), if I can find my way through all that Colorado pot smoke, that is. :)

WY, I'm telling you. I live in UT, but the Wasatch Front is pretty densely populated (and screw going to the freaking desert). I'd head for my aunt's house in WY. Farm animals, game, guns & various other weapons, river behind her house, arable farmland, neighbors, but not too close. AND it comes with a SK library (the first SK book I ever saw was Carrie, on my uncle's nightstand :D) ready made. :D

Need someone to help protect that place from the scurvy mob? I'm also a good tracker. :)

Heck yes! I've never shot a gun in my life. My husband has (he's from WY & hunted when he was growing up), but it's been years. We can have a protected compound in the horse paddock/garages (2 big ones, for farm equipment)/fields. :D
I'm in if you need another scout or sentry? Had a hard time coming back from Wyoming when I visited there several years ago. I'll earn my keep, scouts honor:) Got plenty of ammo and MRE type food stores I can bring.

For sure. Now I need to inform my aunt and uncle that they're going to be hosting a big group if the ZA happens--lol. Really, it could be any huge disaster. I just finished Station Eleven, and it was a super flu that wipes out civilization in that one (very good book, by the way)

Never heard of Station Eleven, might check that out, can't ever get enough post-apocalyptic books....as soon as as I'm done with the new one from Mr. King, of course:)

I'll say this about that: This particular time of year, I'm less worried about Zombies than I am about drunken hunters stumbling around the woods shooting at everything that moves.
You must live in one dangerous drunken state. Here in Pennsylvania there were 944,113 hunting licenses sold in 2014, and there were 29 accidental shootings (with only one fatality). The vast majority of those accidents involved the hunter being in the line of fire, and the accidental discharge of a weapon. A person being shot in mistake for game accounted for 6 incidents, and none of the accidents were reported to have involved alcohol. In Pennsylvania, hunting is statistically one of the safest pastimes you can do outdoors. More injuries, per capita, are sustained in fishing, golfing, cheerleading, volleyball, bicycle riding, soccer and tackle football. Those cheerleaders always scared me. :)

Thanks, I’ll even grow my hair longer and keep it scraggly and greasy, and commit to unkempt facial hair, if it helps. And I’ll even carry a crossbow and ride in on an Dyna Wide Glide Harley. But I’m not giving up my Philippine Bolo Knife as it will come in handy for those no-way-out, precarious situations, that seem to come up every other week. :)
