Kurben-- love that story/poem. Very spot on. Can just imagine a Christmas with SK and family.
You know, in reality, it must be the gathering of a loving, caring, warm family with grandparents, children and grandchildren. May they all enjoy the season. No grinches, no boogiemen, just Santa and pure love/ add a little snow, a warm fireplace and good food. Perfect!

Kurben, I sincerely apologize. I thought for sure you had kept it, and I have been looking to undo my edit and don't see where I can do that. It was so good! :near_tears:
No, just writing out of my head like I often do with poems. And since it was a SKMB special i wrote it on the board. But it is nothing to cry about. Heads up girl! =D

Getting back to the OP suggestion on Uncle writing a Christmas novel. That would make me very happy. I always enjoy reading King on Christmas day. I would like to see something on par with Wind Through The Keyhole. Maybe another interlude like that about the Dark Tower gang. Something touching. PLEASE UNCLE STEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been wracking my brain, and I can't remember anywhere that he approaches Christmas in more than a very cursory way. I have an idea why, though I definitely could be wrong. Sometimes when people come from a difficult background, it's hard to trust Christmas. Christmas is ****ing stressful at times, and kids 'get' that. It's something to get through, either because of money issues or losses (or whatever). I'm going by my mom: she came from a pretty bad family situation and she abhors Christmas. It was marginally better when we were little and she COULD get pretty much whatever she wanted to get for us, but she's never really liked it. Childhood, man...the things we learn and develop then stay with us forever.

I know he was raised by a single Mom as his father disappeared but we do not know for sure that he considered that a "difficult background".

Maybe he just likes to keep Christmas private or it is a time when he does not think of ideas for books (although Stephen King not coming up with ideas for books is a hard thing to fathom!)

My favourite has always been The Grinch Who Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss

You're absolutely right (and why I said I could definitely be wrong) :) I meant no disrespect--money issues are enough difficulty without anything else being involved.

My favorite... hm. I love the Alistair Sim version of A Christmas Carol.

We always watched that one every single Christmas Eve when I was growing up

Here is a link to a video of SK from the Bangor Daily News - not exactly Christmas related but he talks about his family when growing up:

Thanks for sharing the video Neesy :) Really nice interview, but what a dreadfully ugly chair he's sitting on. Hurts my eyes :hopelessness:
