And this movie also has the best on screen street fight I've ever seen. It goes on forever....

I assume you've probably been in a fight or two Gerald, do you remember how tired you get? I've been in a couple that lasted as long as this one, at the end it's just holding on to the other guy and trying to outlast them until the guys in the white hats arrive.. between the adrenaline and the all out effort, you are totally gassed..I always wondered why it's considered long. Is six minutes really long for a fight?

Good stuff! I pretty much like most of what John Carpenter has done..but for a real fight, the one between Rowdy Roddy and Keith David was pretty much my choice as how it goes..and at the end,as they climb the stairs to their crappy hotel room,Roddy says to Keith "Ain't love grand?" LOLOL..haha that was great..But movie fights are seldom realistic. Although even within the sci-fi context of this movie, Carpenter seemed to have wanted to create a realistic fight.
But there are longer fights. For example Bruce Lee versus Chuck Norris is longer - probably a minute or so. So I never got what the deal was about the one in They Live being long - perhaps within the standard of American films. I know it's considered long, Carpenter knows this too and he never wanted to change it.
The bubblegum line was by Piper, not written by Carpenter. He used to say this when he was in a match for real, and Carpenter liked it and included it.

another long fight, being shown a lot on cable here,is the Chuck Norris vehicle Silent Rage..pretty much Chuck fights this guy through the whole movie. This is a horror movie, not your standard kung fu fight movie..and you get Flounder,Stephen Furst, from Animal House,as Chuck's deputy,he was friggin hilarious if you haven't seen this one..
That might have been worth seeing!Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus.
Uh, yeah. This was the weirdest thing. Everybody talking slow and slurry and sort of scary. Odd performances, especially Yoko Ono. I swear to God, how did these stoned idiots keep a straight face when she started her primal scream stuff? Serious musicians playing to some wounded howler monkey -- mind boggling. I was waiting for someone in the audience to do "something witchy" and rush the stage and stick a fork in her belly.
