So it's a ticketed event but having a ticket doesn't guarantee entry to the event? That's a bit odd. I didn't see any information about a signing. So I assume that won't be happening.
There will not be a signing but he will be pre-signing 400 books. I'm still waiting for their exact language about distribution. My contact there has let me know how they plan to do it but I don't want to get any of the process wrong when I pass it along. If you attended any of the events on the book tour, this will be a repeat of that other than the Library of Congress presentation for recognition of his work promoting literacy.

I'm probably going to take a pass on this one having seen King twice already this year and being lucky enough to get a signed EOW copy (or three). I also see trouble brewing with a ticketing process that out sells the event. That means you not only need a ticket, but likely will have to stand in line for hours to ensure entry. And some people with tickets will be out of luck. Not happy campers. But the book festival itself is a lot of fun and usually carried on CSPAN for those who don't want to fight the traffic and heat.

I called and no one had a good answer for me on how to obtain these tickets, I left a message with someone that was supposed to be vetting these questions. Says the tickets will be distributed electronically Sept. 14th but no info on how to get on a list for that. Also as pointed out the whole a ticket don't guarantee entry is a bit concerning, why have tickets if they at the very least don't guarantee your spot? I would hate to miss out on something so close to me because the webpage is confusing.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the folks at the Festival regarding the distribution of the tickets and how attendees would be eligible for one of the signed books. They were supposed to be having a meeting with a ticket vendor earlier this week to work out the details but no word yet on whether they've got that all figured out.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I will just have to keep an ear out for more info.

It seems unlikely they could come up with 400 hard copies of any other book except the most recent unless King has a warehouse full of his older books. So that is what I had assumed. Thanks again for all the updates. Much appreciated.

How cool would it be to have 400 random titles that spans all his works signed and given out, possibly shrink wrapped in black or something of that nature so no one knew what they were getting until it was in hand. That would be pretty f.n awesome.

Wishful thinking I suppose.
