I love this thread. Back when the trees were still bare, there was an owl in the tree outside our front door. We stared at each other forever. He won. It was intense. I had to leave first. It was a barred owl. I'm bummed that I missed the show.

Owls use small feathers on the beak and the feet that help it feel the prey it catches.

They are so far sighted that they use those feathers to feel their young around them.

I did know that. We have a sanctuary close by for all type of birds of prey and one of my kids got to go on a field trip there. They are really beautiful. These are owls and falcons etc... that can't be released back into the wild because of some injury. So, they are used as teaching tools.
