Last night, the owner of the stray dog (Jake - my name for him
) found him. He came to my house after one of the neighbors told him I'd been walking the dog around asking if anyone recognized him. Jake's dad does live in my neighborhood but we seemed to be searching in different parts of the neighborhood and our searches didn't intersect. Jake's dad had called Animal Control Services to see if the dog had been picked up. I reported the dog to The Humane Society and apparently, Animal Control must not check the Humane Society's found dog records because they were not aware that I had a report in. I'm going to call The Humane Society today to tell them I found the dog's owner and I will mention this little glitch. Maybe they can fix that. I think both of them should have access to the same records. Animal Control takes the dogs it picks up to The Humane Society so it doesn't seem it should be too difficult to merge the phone logs.
Anyway, the dog is in good hands and has a very nice home. I can probably go over and play Scrabble with him anytime I want.
