Faithful to her King.....
Was stunned to hear of Rocky's passing today. I had the honor to meet him in Boston with Ms. Mod and a few friends was it 2? years ago now? He was a true friend & gentleman and that is rare in this day and age. May he find his tower in the clearing and soar ever onward to the top! Sending condolences to his family during this difficult time. You will be and already are missed, Rock. <3

ps. I thought it was wonderful that Uncle Stevie dedicated his ice bucket challenge to Rocky. Hopefully one day they can eradicate this awful disease.

I would like to share with you my tribute to Rocky. What I didn't add here was that Rocky was as down to earth as anyone and had his fanboy moments. The picture below is from one that I shared with him many years ago.

I was saddened to learn today of the death of my good friend Rocky Wood for whom I dedicated my ALS Ice Bucket challenge. Rocky was a good and supportive friend and he fought hard for others with ALS. As President of the Horror Writers Association he brought professionalism and a new stature to the organization. He was also a fierce advocate for animal rights, especially the Ingrid's Haven Cat Shelter, who take in abandoned cats.

I've known Rocky for well over 10 years and even though he lived in Melbourne, Australia, it never stopped us from chatting on line and when we did meet at various conferences and conventions, it was almost like a family reunion. Rocky was inclusive, caring and kind and the world is a colder, darker place without him.

In 2011 Rocky and I had the privilege of brunching with Peter Straub and David Morrell. I remember Rocky leaning over and whispering to me "this is a dream come true!" I'm glad I shared that moment with him.

Rest well my friend. You will be missed.

....awww dammmit, dammit, dammit!...my heart goes out to each and every one of you that had the honor of being graced by Rocky's good-nature...I read many things by him, but never was fortunate enough to have met the man...his legacy though will loom large for all time...Requiescat in Pace...let thy pain be gone, thy spirit free and thy soul unfettered...

CJ, here is the picture I took at that Boston meetup. Because of solar glare on my phone, I inadvertently cut off Donna on the left. Cheryl (CJ), Dawn, Ms. Mod, Rocky and his buddy Brownie. I saw Rocky and Brownie on TV later that day when they were sitting in very special seats at the Red Sox game. Rocky got a thrill when I told him he made it onto TV! SKEMERs and Rocky.jpg
