Silly questions and queries from the UK

Bubble and squeak is my favourite meal of the year and one which traditionally is easten on Boxing Day, so Saturday I shall be having it. Left over swede/roast potatoes/cabbage or brussel sprouts etc freid up in lard until it has a crispy slightly burned outter crust and then consumed with cold ham, left over turket and pickles of all kinds, but in our house in particular pickled walnuts. Now I am drooling.

Sometimes we just especially "create" left over veg so we can make bubble and squeak.

It is called that because it bubbles in the pan and then, well let's just say it is said to produce internal gas which may make a squeaking sound on exiting.

We eat Bubble and Squeak in Newfoundland, too.

I think we consider the UK breakfast meat as...ham? Not bacon.

I don't care really. Fry it up, put it in a flour tortilla with some avocado and salsa and I'm good.

See I would call those back bacon and streaky bacon. I always buy streaky bacon which is what you have described as American bacon because I or ever it.

Yup we can get corn and flour tortillas. I tend to make my own flour tortillas though.

Flour water and oil to make a dough and then roll out round and thin and cook on a crepe pan I brought in Brittany.

I've never been fond of "American" bacon, but the UK stuff looks like the real deal! Then again, I'm a fan of Canadian bacon...or I was.
