Awwww, I like Prince. Musical genius and a heck of a guitar player.

You're also killing my alterna-buzz by dissing the Talking Heads and Sex Pistols :(

You can diss the Beatles but not my Paul McCartney!

:biggrin2:
Have you seen Sound City? The whole movie was definite eargasm material, but probably my favorite part was Sir Paul (who is NOT a favorite, I have to admit) writing and arranging Cut Me Some Slack with Dave Grohl. The assurance in his voice and manner made me very happy. I can't write or sing a note, but LORD how I like to watch/hear music played.

Nope, never seen that video-- thanks for the link :) I do remember Paul's performance at the 121212 fundraiser on television. He performed this song (as well as a few others, including an amazing version of Helter Skelter) and I was blown away by how much vocal prowess the dude still has over fifty years into his career. He astounds me.

Pretty much anyone that uses autotune to pretend they have talent (not including people like Thom Yorke, who can sings damn fine without, but sometimes uses it for effect).
That was a strong point made in Sound City, as well: that autotune is usually for crappy voices...but they made an exception for Trent Reznor. He has the musical chops such that he can use tech of all sorts without having it take over or mask flaws. He's a f***ing monster musician.

Nine Inch Nails is probably my favourite band (well, band isn't quite the word). You're right about his tech, even without it (as on the album Still), he's still superb.

The Eagles (I know - sacrilege!)

They sound like the "Wonder Bread" of music to my ears. I do like Hotel California, however and I actually like some of Don Henly's solo stuff.

Nah, I agree, the Eagles are pretty boring....

Life in the Fast Lane is probably my favorite by them.... and Boys of Summer by Don Henley is in my top 20 all time favorite songs (like I keep a list... LOL)

I have a special love for The Eagles.....JD and I used to sing their songs on late nights when I couldn't sleep and had the weight of the world on my shoulders. If for no other reason, I like them for the memories.
