Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte is a terrific gothic film. One of my favorites. Always watch it during our Halloween Marathon Month although I don't think I included it this last year.

If any of you haven't seen this one, you are missing a throwback film to the charm of the south and murder.

It's pretty good! Think of the book, Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil. Not that good, but still very good. You don't have to have been southern to enjoy it, but it helps. Watch this. It might get you up to speed.

Plus it showed erect nipples! ;;D

On top of that , what a Shocking and offensive uniform ! :icon_eek:

Got it. Thanks Danie!

Not the same photo but I did hesitate a while before letting that one through. The original one was a lot more bare skin and cleavage.

GNTLGNT, I can only pray yer stern yet sensible countenance will keep me from posting further semi-provocative, PG rated, fully clothed, nazisploitation images, and keep everyone's raging libidos from falling prey to these constant lascivious, "erect nipples", "I'm still seeing it" :a11: and "Click to expand..." posts. Click to expand?!! I'm afire with lust -- and I don't even know what it means! Apparently the female body remains a mystery to me.

Now enjoy something lovely.

Can you please stop with the "sarcastic" posts and move along? Thank you - Moderator

Susan Sarandon looks almost weirdly young for her age. She 70! And doesn't appear to have had any plastic surgery. It pays to moisturize I guess! (Grin runs into the bathroom and begins slathering coco butter all over himself) Jessica Lange is still quite nice looking of course, but it's easier the believe she's 67. I really thought Catharine Zeta Jones was a terrible choice for Olivia DeHavilland -- too young and physically & temperamentally very different. But googling them both, at 47 she's just about the same age Olivia DeHavilland was in 1964! I had assumed DeHavilland was closer in age to Bette Davis. Jones certainly has very little in common with the (still alive!) actress, but she's still a star. If you can get her, why not? I can only pray her husband Michael Douglas comes in & plays Joseph Cotton, DeHavilland's co-star in Hush Hush ... SC!! That would be surreal. But in a good way.

Watched the actual movie, Whatever Happened To Baby Jane, on TCM this morning. Jessica has the same facial structure as Crawford but only slightly resembles her. Susan, OTOH, is nearly a dead-ringer for Bette, especially in the make-up. At one point, Bette turned to look over her shoulder and the resemblance was striking. Oh, and the fellow who plays Victor Buono is scary-close, too. The film holds up pretty well, the only thing that really dates it is the soundtrack. Knowing about the backstage fun and games gives one a different view of the movie. Quite interesting.

I think Jessica Lange's eyes just aren't big enough. But occasionally she is really able to channel her. She's a phenomenal actress. I LOVED her in American Horror Story! I can't think of anyone else who might do it. Sharon Stone?

Sharon Stone's greatest role...she's turned into Joan Crawford! - Free Online Library

She hasn't had any plastic surgery!! She really looks great, who would guess she's 70? Maybe I better find out what kind of moisturizer she uses!

Maybe. I can't see her with dark hair so it's hard to tell. I think Michelle Dockery might be one who could do a younger Joan.

This is kind of a find. Joan Crawford on the Merv Griffin show in 1963! About the time she might have been filming 'Hush, Hush ..." She looks quite happy -- of course she is getting lots of attention and being treated like a star -- and she actually seems kind of sweet. And you could still see shades of the beauty she had been years before. I can't detect the monster Faye Dunaway portrayed in Mommie Dearest here, but maybe a bit of Jessica Lange in Feud. Nice to see her having a good time.

Watch her chug that Pepsi!

This is almost too awkward to watch. :hopelessness:

Why is there a baby crying in the backround? I keep hearing it.

Swear, listen.

It's a cat noise! :icon_eek:

Yeah, a cat I think! Y'know I have the entire Merv Griffin episode on tevo (so help me, shut up), from Get-TV and the noise isn't there. I doubt it's digitally remastered, although the sound is clear. Maybe when whoever sampled/dubbed this, it picked up someone washing a cat in the next room. :0: I don't discount anything anymore.
