I watched a Netflix show this weekend with Stephen Fry. It was a book release talk he was giving that apparently a number of countries were tuned into on the big screen in theaters to watch. I found this concept interesting and I would pay to watch Stephen King live in my local theater during one of his book tours. Can't be there in person, be there with live stream on a big theater screen --awesome sauce.

Anyway, Stephen Fry took the time to acknowledge each country that was represented and watching this live feed and one of the countries was Germany.

He discussed this word:

Oberaftenturbotittengeil.

Apparently it means:

over ape, turbo tits horny

And apparently this word is very popular with the young people in Germany and it is very hip to say. Is this true? Are you familiar with the word and the fact that it is some pop culture thing in Germany?

Where was this tip last June when on my way to see Mr. King in Nashville???:0:
Has it really been a year ago? We were in such turmoil then! How're you, Danie? You look good! :m_bigwink:
Welcome home, Y'all! Hope everyone had a fabulous holiday weekend.

My new windows were installed yesterday, and I can't stop looking at them.....I think I'm in love!
Great news!! I don't know what your weather is like right now, but most mornings and evenings I open my kitchen windows and enjoy - especially during a storm! We got new windows in 2015 and I'm still in love. Our old windows had rotten wood and most wouldn't open.

Saturday was Karen, and Sam's anniversary. I watched the kids while they went to dinner, and then a casino.
Yesterday was Larry's birthday. He was 47 years old. I just gave him a visa gift card, cause he is so hard to buy for.
Happy anniversary Karen & Sam - Happy Birthday Larry!!

So - glad we are back :m_petals::m_loveu:

I had an interesting experience last night.

Just as I was leaving the hospital a very nice looking, well dressed elderly lady stopped me in the hallway to ask for help.

Long story short - she is 89 years old. Somehow she had mixed up her time and was there for a 10 a.m. appointment with her doctor (this was around 10 p.m. last night).

We started talking and although she had bus fare and was able to take a bus back home, I offered to give her a ride since she lived quite close to my neighborhood.

At first I considered calling Security but once we got talking I could see she was quite cognizant of what was going on around her and had simply fallen asleep earlier, woken up and thought it was the morning (the light can trick you at this time of the year, with the days getting longer).

I could go on and on but to summarize she offered me a cup of coffee or tea and I walked her to her apartment. She invited me in - what a beautiful place!

She is in a 55 plus building.

I left her my name and phone number on a card and wrote down her name and phone number - let's hope we can get together in the future!

It almost feels like meeting her was meant to be. She tells me her daughter is a nurse at HSC, where I work :)
Very kind of you! And it sounds like you made a new friend! I was good friend's with the Ogre' grandmother before I met the Ogre. She sort of encouraged our friendship!

For when we want to court sexy younger German guys!

Hey - how was the beach? You did go to the beach, didn't you? Or am I dreaming?

We had really big storms here Saturday night. Lots of Memphians without power. My daughter's without power, so she and my grandcat are staying here until the power's back on. I'm sleeping so peacefully with all my kids under 1 roof. We snuck the cat into the spare bedroom while RubyJune (the spastic dog) was asleep in my room. She still doesn't know the cat's here.

There's actually a little storm happening now.

I'm going to eat a blueberry waffle soon and go to bed early. I'm almost finished with BOBD, and loving it. I read The Little Green God of Agony last night. I could totally believe in such things, truly. SK is so talented.

Hey, Holly-girl! Yes, we went to the beach! It was great, but a working trip getting our house ready/cleaned for rental season, but in the evenings we sat in the hammocks and just totally relaxed! So wonderful. Here's a sunset pic.

We had a big scary storm on Sunday afternoon. Lots of lightning, winds blowing the rain at 60mph in various directions, etc. Only lost power for 30 seconds or so.

Enjoy having the family around. Laughing about the cat! ;-D

Having a bad evening and night. Got the kind of toothache that makes you abandon every thought of sleep. It has abated now so i'm thinking about giving sleep a new try but i must get up in 3,5 hours so it wont be much. It is half past three in the night here. Tomorrow will be tough....

Aww, Kurben that sucks. I was just dealing with that over the weekend! I was trying to ignore it, but then panicked while envisioning horrors like root canals, etc., so I made an appt. first thing this morning. Left work early and everything...and nothing was wrong, except that some enamel chipped off and now it's sensitive (I'm a grinder). :umm: I hope you can get relief soon. Tooth pain is torture. Take some Tylenol or Aleve, maybe it'll dull it a bit, enough for you to sleep?

Good morning!

Busy busy day ahead. Need to run errands and get groceries. Make a trip to Walmart for some cake supplies, somehow I got roped into making Brandon's birthday cake for his barbeque this weekend. This is what I'm shooting for...
beer-shaped-birthday-cakes-12941-300x239.jpg

but I bet it won't look this good. ;-D Not using fondant because no one I know thinks it tastes good. So will just have to really smooth the frosting.

Have to be back by noon. Want to bake cakes tomorrow and freeze them overnight then decorate on Friday morning. BBQ is Sat, and my mom is coming up for the weekend. Going to be pretty busy the whole rest of the week! Babysitting every day too, but only Sage until Friday, then I'll have both littles.

Hope everyone has a great day! Big hugs and positive vibes to all! :love_heart:

If it was me making the cake, I'd be posting one of those "Nailed it!" photos. ;-D I'm sure yours will look terrific.

Happy birthday to Brandon and hope you all have a great time with the BBQ! You're going to be exhausted by then from the sound of it. :smile2:

Oh, one of those Nailed It pics is just what I'm afraid it's going to look like! I am still toying with the idea of the fondant to make the indentations to make it look more like a mug. But it is blech icky tasting. I am going to use some for the handle.

Going to try just using the handle of my cake frosting knife, and press lightly into the frosting to make little indents. If I don't like it, I'll just smooth it back out. I mean, there are plain, smooth glass beer mugs too! ;) ;-D

Thank you for the birthday wishes for Brandon. :) It will be a fun weekend, but yep, I am going to need sleep by Sunday night. :upside:
